As an active and devoted Christian, I strongly believe in the power of answered prayer. I believe that God doesn't always give us what we ask for but that He does answer by saying No or Wait at times. I believe when I pray, wherever I am, on my knees or not, alone or in a crowd, God hears me. I have learned it is best not to be demanding. Praying is not shopping in God's groceries store. You can't or rather shouldn't just go down the list and pick your answers. Let Him answer as he feels best. I live with this on a daily basis. Unless you have ever lived in the way we call "hand to mouth" you may not understand. There are days when I literally don't know where the next bill payment or even the next carton of milk may come from. I can tell you for a FACT (no theory here) that if I say, "God, You know what position I am in here. Please just do whatever You feel is the best thing."...I have never had to skip a meal or go without even what some may people may see as minor comfort like toilet paper. You might think this is silly. You might say it's coincidental or that someone sees my situations and knows when to help me. I don't think it's chance. I don't BELIEVE in chance. I knew a baby that had a heart defect and when the child was examined in pre-op they found out they didn't have to operate. His heart was fine. It wasn't a mistake. Many preliminary and in depth exams had determined the need for surgery, but when it came down to it, even the doctors who were NOT Christians said it could only be a miracle. Your story may not be dramatic like that, but please share it here. If you are here to argue, please don't bother. No one is going to shake my faith. You can't. You won't. My GOD is real and I stand firm on His providence.

When I was a baby I had a blocked tear duct. It is fairly common in new borns and often clears up on it's own but in my case it was pretty severe and wouldn't get better. The doctor gave my parents drops for my eyes and they waited for months with no improvement. Finally, the doctor said he would have to do surgery. They were going to have to take the eye out of the socket to try to fix the problem. My parents and the church prayed for me the night before surgery. The next day, just before surgery the doctor wanted to check my eye once more and guess what? It was healed. No more blocked tear duct and no need for surgery. Another example of God's answer in my life: My son was born almost 16 years ago. I had always wanted to have 4 children but after my son I could never get pregnant again. We didn't use any birth control and for some reason we just couldn't have any more. I went to the doctor who told me he didn't see any reason I couldn't get pregnant. I couldn't understand. I longed for a baby and prayed for more children. Finally, I gave up when my son was around 10 years old. Imagine my surprise when I found out I was pregnant when my son was 14! Now my baby girl just turned 1!!! God wasn't telling me "no", I just had to wait for His timing. God is so good and I know He answers our prayers.

God Bless You my dear friend! I dont know where to start because we received blessings from God everyday. Dont look for big miracles in your life to appreciate God. Try counting the blessing you receive each day and youll be surprised to learn how much God loves us! Do you know how many people are there in this world? And praying for their intentions every minute? And yet God able to answer your prayers and mine. Just hold on and God will provide. The answer is already in your hand. Just look around and youll see miracles.

You are so right. This is something I have learned in the past few years. God cares about the sparrows. He cares even that I have enough bread for toast, and even toothpaste. He is responsible for every part of my life, and He cares about everything.

Wow, what a wonderful post KBK. I can't even begin to tell you how many ways God has blessed my life. I know what you mean about Him providing for us when we are living hand to mouth. I can recall a time at a previous job when I had a new manager I really disliked. She was deceitful and unfair, and I was miserable every day. I interviewed for a position in another department I was absolutely qualified for. I even knew the manager of the department and had worked for her at another business several years before. I was so disappointed when I did not get the job and could not understand why God was not providing me a way to get away from this horrible manager I was under. A few weeks later I got a better job in a different department, for twice the pay. It also turned out that the manager I disliked so much transferred over to the department I originally interviewed for and would have been my manager again! I was so thankful that God said no to my requests. Another time several years ago we were living in a small town about 45 minutes away from all my friends and family. I told my husband I wanted to move and we looked at many houses in my home town that just were not what we wanted or could afford. We found a house that would have been "perfect" for us and put a bid in on it. I spent so much time asking God to have His hand in the deal and provide us with that house because it just seemed ideal. Well, another bidder got that house and I was crushed. I was at the end of my rope and desperate to move away from the town we were in. I cried and cried, and again could not understand why God said no. A few weeks later my husband and I were driving around in my home town. He turned down a street and commented that it was a really nice street with lovely houses and he wished we could find a house on this street. I scoffed and said "People don't buy houses on this street. They inherit them. The houses in this area of town NEVER go up for sale." He said "Well, there is a man putting up a for sale sign in the yard right now." I made him screech to a halt and jumped out of the car. I talked the gentleman into letting us see the house immediately (even though he was not ready to show it)and we took a look. I instantly knew this was the house of my dreams but after walking through it and seeing how nice it was, felt we surely would not be able to afford it. He told us his asking price and not only was it within our price range, it was below what we would have been willing to pay. It was only a bit more than the house we missed out on but had twice the space and needed absolutely no work. We bought our house on the spot and as soon as I got into the car I started crying tears of gratitude because again, I knew why God said no to my previous prayers. These are only a few examples of things I have experienced. I truly believe miracles happen around us every day and we just don't recognize them or give credit where credit is due.

It's true. God often answers prayer and gives us miracles when we are not paying attention.

Doctors said my grandson would have to have surgery to remove some cysts on his lung-they were even saying he might lose about 1/3 of his lung-he was just weeks old. However, I prayed-even as they were taking him into surgery. The surgeon came out of the O.R. after just a short time. They'd found only one small cyst, and it was on his diaphram. He didn't lose any of his lung afterall. What happened to the other two cysts? Hmmm-God only knows.

I have always prayed for true love, I almost gave up on love. I thought I'm not deserving and will never have it. Old folks say that try looking for it, because it will find you. And it did find me, I'm happily married with my true love.

I've seen God work in my life constantly, but it's funny, I can never really see His reasoning until after the fact. I love looking back on things and seeing how God has answered my prayers, in the way I want or not. And it's amazing to see how God is working in my life, working with the good and bad that I do to make all things good. I was in a relationship for a while but he was not a Christian and it became a huge conflict. I knew I had to break it off but I thought I loved him and was having a hard time talking to him. Well, then comes this other guy who showed Christian traits and asked me out on a date. I was very interested so I finally decided to end it with my boyfriend. Nothing came of this new guy, but as I look back I see that God put that new guy in my life for that short moment to give me the courage to finally talk to my boyfriend and end the relationship. God used that guy as a tool to save me from a worse heart break.

Sometimes it takes years before we know WHY God does what He does and allows the things He does. I am learning more and more to trust and not to question.

The mere and simple fact that I'm around is one reason to believe. I've battled cancer 3x in my life, the last bout being the worse. I'm still here to care for my children and watch them graduate, get married, etc. I prayed long and hard that God wouldn't take me from them because I knew that their sperm donor wouldn't be there for them. (my ex husband) Add to the list of miracles the fact that we are living in a nice house. I was at the point where the house was being taken (divorce) along with no income (cancer) and faced with having to move. Somehow we were provided for and moved to a nice little house in a nice neighborhood. Again, prayers were answered when I thought there was no good ending in sight. This is just 2 of many times my prayers have been answered.

Praise the Lord. You have listed so many more than two!! Again, we are so much alike. I am still facing so many difficulties because of chronic illness and divorce. Thank God I still have a roof over my head and a life, and my wonderful kids. Thank God I have a new husband who loves and cares for me. Although my illness is no match for facing cancer three times I have to say I understand your fierceness of battle. I am battling long term chronic pain with no relief in site, but I do not intend to give up. I have watched over half a dozen friends fight cancer and win, and a few who didn't win but were valiant. Girl, I love you so much. My stepson and I are ROFLMAO on "I prayed long and hard that God wouldn't take me from them because I knew that their sperm donor wouldn't be there for them." What a way with words!!
