How Would You Grade Your Life?

United States

We are all cloned into the rating system from education of A B C D and F. Applying this to your life, how would you grade your performance and why? I would give myself a "B". Good enough I suppose, better than some others, but lots of room for improvement. I've missed out on many chances to extend myself to others that I would like to have a "retake" on. So MyLotter's, what's your grade?

As a fellow procrastinator, I will award bonus points to bring that up to a C- :-)

The first part of my life, those years upto about 15, I don't grade as I was still learning things from my parents. For the years 15-21 I would say I get a D. I did so many dumb things. I learned alot, but I learned it the hard way. For the years 21-27 I give myself an F. I was so out of it and doing so many stupid things, it's a miracle that I am alive. For the years 28 to now, I would say that I am earning a B+. There are so many things that I still need to do to improve myself, but I have learned and grown from all those other experiences. Who knows what my grade will be in 5, 10 or 15 years.

That's a fascinating reply. I too would give myself much lower grades for certain phases of my life, just as I'm sure you deserve A+'s for many acts. I think our lives can only be evaluated, if at all, in the balance.

I was thinking "What if I graded in subjects?" and decided that that'd take a year and to just give things a C- overall. A couple of parts are great, some could do a heck of a lot better and some are almost a writeoff, but I don't think I'm failing yet!

Nowhere near failing! You're here and communicating, so that's at least a half-grade alone.

I think I'd grade myself a B, too, because I have a lot more learning to do, but have also learned a lot. I have accomplished many things in my short life, so far. I have had started my family, had two kids, and they are doing well, I have a thirst for knowledge, and I love figuring things out. Therefore, I feel I am on the right path, and I hope one day I'll be able to grade myself an A. But for right now, there are still things I need to learn, and improve on. So, I give myself a B.

I give myself a D because my life has just got flat, I am in a state of dormancy, after suffering a couple of years of depression, been in two terrible, abusive relationships and felt trapped, I am stuck in stasis, I do not trust strangers I am very wary of people and their intentions. I do not currently have a job and I am somewhere where I don't want to be because I don't have the money or courage to leave. I am slowly falling into the F category if I don't kick start my life. I long to be a C
