What movie is it?

Dear myLotters-comedies' lovers! Could you help me please in identifying the movie I've seen but don't remember its title? It's a youth comedy shot in the late 90's - beginning of 2000's. It's about a boy and a girl, who are a grade 12 students and they are just friends. As they acquaint each other with their friends, they get to know that they love each other. Actually, there is a hint at the Cyrano de Bergerac story. The hero writes letters to the heroine and speaks with her, pretending that it's his friend who wanted to sleep with the girl. After the final ball they confess that they love each other, so HAPPY END.
The actors' performance is splendid in this movie, I really liked it. So, do you know this movie? Please tell me its title!!!

Julia, I'm struggling a bit to make this into a teen movie AND the Cyrano de Bergerac story.
There was the movie called "Roxanne" with Steve Martin and Darryl Hannah from 1987, which definitely follows the Cyrano story, but they are not high schoolers, so it doesn't quite work.
The right time period, and the right setting might be the movie "Clueless" with Alicia Silverstone, from 1995-- although that plot is not based on Cyrano, but on Jane Austen's "Emma."
Also the right time period-ish, and the right plot-ish, there was a little known film called "Whatever it Takes" that sortof follows the same idea.
Don't know if any of those help. I can't really place the movie you are talking about-- do you remember if it was an American production, or English, or European?

The main heroes are a boy and a girl (they study at the 12th grade) who live in the neighbourhood (their balconies are in front of each other). They are just friends. He has a friend who likes this girl (if I'm not mistaken, his name is Carl) and want to go out with her. So this friend asks the hero to acquaint him with her, and the hero wants him to introduce to his cousin who is "the queen of the school" but she is very spoilt and vicious. So these four go out together. There was a moment, when they walk at the fair, and the girl that went out with the main hero vomits on him on the marry-go-round.
Actually Carl is rather stupid, and he just wants to sleep with the heroine. He asks the hero to write letters to her instead of him and once the hero prompts him (like Cyrano de Bergerac), so that the heroine will like Carl. But after all she exposes that, and both she and the main hero realize that they love each other. The upshot happens during the final ball.
If these details are not sufficient, I'll try to remember more! Thank you very much!!!
