how often . . .

I heard a good news today. It seems that a cousin of mine who has been battling with cancer for almost three years now is improving. Thank you! I couldn't begin to explain the great relief and diminishing of guilt I felt at that moment. I havent visited her for quite sometime, living as I am, islands away. My euphoria didn't last long though. Cancer as I've come to know is quite the traitor. I wonder if I'll be hearing bad news tomorrow. Or if she'll be dead before I'm done feeling happy with relief. Do you think of death often? When you see the news of people dying, do you automatically think of your own mortality? When you see accidents where people die, do you say "It could've been me"? How often do you stop and think that life is not forever and any minute it will just be taken away from you?

That is really good news , I have so many online friends at different stages of this terrible disease , some have had the all clear and some are still having treatment , I know what you mean about people just going , my parents both have Alzheimers , and every day with them is just so precious, none of us know what it in front of us or how long we will be with or have our loved ones xx xx

Yes. It's like becoming the "in" thing when it comes to diseases. Oh I am sad about your parents. I dont know much about Alzheimers but it is very frustrating I guess. At least they dont suffer constant pain? Indeed, we never know what is around the corner so we might as well not dwell on it and make the most of everything and everyone before rounding it.
Thank you so much for the response. Have a great day! Happy posting!

I never used to think much about here to day and gone tomorrow until I had my heart attack in 2001. I quite often think we'd better live as if today is our last day here because it may very well be. I'm sorry but I have no faith wherever cancer is concerned. I lost my dad to cancer he was only 59 years old. I'd say if you can possibly get to see your cousin before it's too late then by all means go. If you can't go then maybe a phone call. It's always nice to hear a friendly voice when you're not well. Best Wishes

Hello grandmaof2. I feel as you do. As I keep telling my family - "Never ever trust that disease, it lulls you into a false sense of security, then, POOF, everything falls apart just when you think it's gonna be ok." I know, I keep telling myself everyday to live today as if it's my last day alive. But I keep forgetting to do that. Everyday hassle and bustle makes me forgetful to keep that promise. :) Yes, I really think I need to go visit. I wish I could. I hope I could. I'm making ends meet as it is. Thank you. Best wishes, now and then, never fails to warm my heart and make me smile. It is always nice to see you here. Have a great day!

I am glad that she is getting better and I do hope it is still the Case and that she has not got worse again
Yes I do sometimes think about and try to imagine not seeing my Friends, my Kids and all the things I love anymore. I try not to think about it though as it upsets me to much.

I am glad too so much so. She is a good person..I guess no one really likes to be reminded of their own mortality. Sometimes when Im feeling morbid and think of my own, I cry coz I'm not ready to be separated from my family. It makes me want to savor each moment with them and show everyone how precious they are. Again, a pleasure to have you. :)

I'm glad to hear about a positive development. It is really hard to fight cancer. But it is not impossible to win. There are some cases where people survive Cancer, not muchm but still there is a possibility so don't ever lose hope.
But one thing that you should keep in mind is that you should take each day everyday like there will be no tomorrow. Do not hesitate to make your loved ones feel that you love them and even hear it from you and also how much you care about them. You don't know what the future holds for all of you, for all of us. We might not be here tomorrow or one of our loved ones may be taken away from us.
So always remember to not take anyone you love for granted.

Hi nanayangel and thank you for those words of wisdom. I know it really is hard to fight cancer. Not only the effects and complications it has on the patient but also on the financial status of the family. I even told my parents, it's not only the patient who has cancer but also we as family are suffering from "cancer of the pockets". A very expensive disease. Yes I will take that advice and your reminder not to take everyone for granted. Sometimes though,I do forget and it is heartwarming to know someone cares enough to remind me. Thank you so much, good day and happy posting!

Wow, that's an interesting question. + for you.
I guess I could say I'm not a psychotic about that, but I tend to think about "wow, I remember when I was learning to ride a bike and that was 12 years ago", "I was at school the other day, now I'm graduating on college", this kind of stuff. I'm always amazed (although I shouldn't, everybody knows that) of how fast life goes by. And I don't worry about any accident or anything that can take my life in the very next minute, I'm one of those who think "if it has to happen, it will happen". But I'm always thinking of how fast we can get old. The other day it was that "girls, yuck!" childish thing, now I'm thinking about marriage. It's very fast!
So I value my life not when I see someone involved in an accident, I value it because of the things I thought I was going to accomplish with certain age and I've did it. Or the other way around: I should live more, since I didnt achieve that goal.
Great topic you have there. =]

Hey cancatis. Wow too, didnt expect to receive that plus. Cool! You're not psychotic, I am hehe. I know how THAT feels. It's like when I see someone and I ask - "Wasn't that girl in diapers the last time I saw her?" Makes me backtrack and think, "oh no where did the time go?" Good for you, that attitude will get you everywhere in no time at all. Good luck and keep safe. So fast of you to drop in. Im glad that you did find your way here. Hope to see more of you around. Whichever way you go, I believe, you'll do just great!

I dont think that often since it will cause only fear on me, i rather think of good things in the past and my family.
