Do you get nervous when you are in a room with a ton of people?

I was at a 50th anniversary party yesterday, and there must have been 200 people there. Normally I am fine in these situations, but last night I felt like I was having anxiety. I felt like I had a fever and had some shortness of breath. The room felt like it was a billion degrees. I actually ended up going outside, and felt better, which lead me to believe it was a panic attack, and I actually wasn't dying. Has this happened to you before? Is there something you do that makes you feel better? I want to know just in case this happens again. Thanks

That was definitely an anxiety attack. When this happens, you need to close your eyes, take slow, deep breath, and massage your jugulars. This will help lower your heart rate and calm you down. Also, next time get yourself a glass of cold water. It's a little strange that this happened suddenly and never has before. Were they different circumstances than you are used to being in?

Did you feel out of place there? Normally that is a reason that a lot of people experience social anxiety and the symptoms that you describe. It's exactly what I felt when I had to get in front of a crowd and talk to people about my success in a network marketing company that I was in. I can talk to people all day long but put me in front of a crowd and my chest tightens up, I freeze up, and I start to stutter and also feel ill at times.

yes I do I get clastrophobia real easy, so I try not to be in big crowds and if I have to be I make sure that I am by a door so that way I have a quick escape.I am not sure why this happens either but I know it is a very scary feeling so I just try to avoid it as much as possible.

I always feel a bit nervous when I'm at a big party and I'm completely alone, that is I don't know any person there. Or if I'm with someone, but he/she doesn't pay me much attention. I become too shy and may sit silently in the corner until someone comes up to speak with me.
