My hubby and I have been married, and he is a recovering alcoholic... He has been sober for 1 year now!! YAY! But I still remember like it was yesterday living with someone who was all about getting that fix... So, my question to all of you is, when did u seek an intervention for the one u love? And how do u get past the past and look forward to the rest of your lives together?

Luckily intervention was never needed for me...I dont know about my husband though because he'd been long since dry when we met....He's been sober for close to 20 yrs I think and I've been sober since August of last yr and I've been clean for goin on 5 yrs now....I honestly think that getting past the past is important but leaving it behind is a mistake really...Healing from it is necessary but REMEMBERING what it was like and using it to your advantage is a must IMO....As for moving forward..It'll ALWAYS be day by day...its a total life change (it was for me at least) I mean everything has to be different in a lot of ways which can be very trying at times but its doable...I guess feeding off how much you hated the way it was and enjoying the way things are now is a key factor for me....
