I tried to see the James Bond film Casino Royale. All it did was wish I was seeing Dr. No or any Roger Moore Bond film.It took me about 30 minutes to figure out why. There is no humor in it. With Sean and Roger there was action and comedic scenes. There were witty names for the Bond Girls. It looked like Sean and especially Roger were having fun.Maybe that is why I didn't like Pierce's Bond. And the new guy was okay.I liked the first Casino Royale much better. It was a spoof.Okay Bond fans what did you think of Casino Royale?

I hated it. Bond is supposed to have witty one liners, and he's supposed to be sauve and seductive. Daniel Craig wasn't sauve, his kills weren't clean; his seduction amounted to rape; and he had no memorable lines whatsoever. If Bond movies are going to be like that, I'm sticking with XXX. Vin Diesel and Ice Cube are much better at being Bond-like than Daniel Craig.

Bond is supposed to be suave and sudective?! Who told you that?? Bond is a CLASS "A" assassin. Dark, tough, hard and ROUGH. This is how he was origianlly intended by Ian Fleming. The "suave and seduction" bit came from the many actors putting their own touch to the character as the years went by. The only close interpitations were Sean Connery, Timothy Dalton. Daniel Craig IS the closest of them all to the Original James Bond.
Also, Not to forget, Casino Royale is his FIRST "00" mission. He is supposed to make mistakes and then learn from it. Then he becomes the James Bond we all know.

"Bond is supposed to be suave and sudective?! Who told you that??" I agree with you. The Bond that people seem to prefer is a Hollywoodized version, basically a cartoon of what such a person would be. I have a feeling Fleming would approve of this latest one. I thought it was wonderful that in the first chase scene, Bond's clumsiness was contrasted with the skill and grace of the guy he was after. Much more realistic and gritty, just the way it should be.

I don't see how you can compare a spoof that's meant to be humorous with an action movie. Sort of like comparing apples and broccoli. I thought there was plenty of humor in the new Casino Royale, but it was dry humor. Maybe it was just too subtle for you. It's the first Bond movie that I really enjoyed and thought was worth watching more than once.

I would rather see a spoof of Bond Than The new Casino Royale again. It would be fun to watch. That's what I meant.

I love Roger Moore as James Bond. He's ENGLISH, sophisticated and fits the role. Funny too. He was the first ever James Bond I laid eyes on and grew up watching.
Roger Moore was the FIRST ever WORTHY replacment for Sean Connery at that time. But also, Roger moore put his touches on to the character for 11 long years, he took James Bond away from his dark, tough and dry side. Others after him were FORCED to follow in his foot steps. Timothy Dalton brought back the "darkness" James Bond missed, yet he mixed it with humor and LACKED the toughness. Pierce wans't dark at all. He looked good, but he too, took James Bond further away. James Bond was alienated him TOTTALLY.
Daniel Craig, however, insisted that James Bond MUST bleed. He also insisted, helped by his physique, return to his TOUGH, ROUGH, Brain splattering, Blood spilling roots, since the producers wanted to REBOOT the franchise. The only thing NOT perfect about Daniel is that he is Blonde.
When watching Casino Royale, you must remember that is the first novel ever written about Bond, a REBOOT and James Bond's FIRST "00" mission as he is unexperienced. Casino Royal is the mission that made James Bond we all came to know what he is.

Roger Moore is my favorite Bond. i only saw Timothy"s films because I liked his work in other films and was curious to see his Bond.I lked that he was darker but his films were still fun to watch and they had the one liners and humor. When Pierce took on the role, I couldn't see him as Bond so I stayed away for years. and when I finally tried one of his films, I wasn't impressed.I only saw Casino Royale because I was curious how the new guy would do with the role.I didn't like it.I'll stay with my collection of Roger and Sean and Timothy. If you like the new James Bond , I hope you enjoy the next installments.

Actually i CAN'T wait for the next installment. The very FIRST official sequel in Bond history. They are finally paying attention to the continuity the other 20 movies lacked :-D

My family are Bond fans and have all the DVDs we did not think the new Casino Royale fitted the genre at all. My husband thinks it is because it does not have the theme music running through it. I found it very difficult to believe in when it was supposed to be his first mission (so should have been set in a time before Sean Connery) but was using mobile phones and suchlike. It was good to see him being 'formed' into the Bond we have come to know. I don't like it at the moment but think it will grow on me.

I was saying the same thing to my sister a couple days ago. It would have been fun and more interesting to see James Bond in the late 50's, since Dr. No came out in 1962.like you, I have all of Sean's and Roger's and Timothy's Bond films. So when I want to see the Real Bond , I can.I even have Austin Powers which is a great spoof, but it is done with love and fun, the two things I didn't feel from The New Casino Royale.

Interesting point of view. We must not have watched the same Casino Royale movie. The one I watched featured an amazingly talented and emotionally deep man who was both flawed and complex.
Daniel Craig brought compassion and humanity to a character that has long been nothing more than a two dimensional cartoonish oaf.
I hope he is chosen for the next Bond film too.

If I wanted to see a talented and emotionally deep man who was both flawed and complex, I would have watched Hamlet.I like that James Bond was uncomplicated.

It's true, I don't like the new Casino Royale.
But I found the argument some times a go that made me accept this movie as Bond's movie. It is true that Casino Royale is the first novel of Ian Flemming and it's about the first Double O mission, so as a new guy he think that he should take M's heart. I look forward to see how this aggresive ne bond to be a flamboyant one.
