Mine have one that looks like a castle. The lid has a pretend moat and crocidile on it. It was free at a yard sale!!! Its a very nice sandbox. Right now we havent got any sand so they use it for a pool. Works well that way too!

I use to have the turtle sandbox, I bought it at a yard sale. But the lid didn't stay on it very well. I ended up getting rid of it.

My boys also have the turtle sandbox. I found it off the street, and it did not have a lid. Although it is very small compared to the one my son had at our old house, he still loves it. In our house the sand turnover is very quick, as my son loves to put the sand everywhere, so we really do not have any problems with bugs. My husband said he would make a lid though, he just have not had the time yet.
I love sandboxes, or actually I love that my son loves sandboxes, and I loved playing in them as a child, now I hate the sandy feeling though - unless it is at the beach.

We have a turtle sandbox that sits in our yard. We bought it 4 years ago when our grandson was 2 years old. We bought it for $10, it was second hand. It did not have sand so we had to purchase it. It has endured many hours of play with all of your grandkids. They love it. We do encourage the grandkids to put the top back on so that the cats don't think of it as an outhouse just for them.

my kids had one of those little green turtle sandboxes. When we moved we just left it there, with 2 of them in it there just wasn't enough room for them to play. We are getting ready to build them one thats big enough for them to play in and their little brother next year :). We are going to build one with a lid also that way our cats and other animals are going in it.

Yes my kids have a sandbox. Thier sandbox is one of those ones that is half sand/half water. It is a brownish color that stands on four legs. The top fits on really tightly to keep the bugs out and it has two straps on either side to hold it down. It also came with an umbrella that goes in the middle of it when the top is off. They love it, but I just wish I could find away to keep them from dumping all the sand out. They have had the sandbox since Easter and are on bag 3 of sand.

I don't have kids but when I was young we had a sandbox. My dad works and was the main boss at a golf course so he could bring home sand in the golf course truck and fill up our sandbox. It was in the shape of a dinosaur (except flatter, of course). It had a lid, yes. The dinosaur was purple and the lid was yellow. However, that didn't make it critter-proof. If we hadn't played in it for a long time we'd find the sand a gross color and bugs all in it. It was fun when I was a kid but now I just hate sandboxes. They're so messy.

That sounds like a really neat sandbox! We have a large sandbox that my husband built. He made a lid for it because we have cats in our neighborhood and I would hate for them to think it was a large litter box!

yes he sure does now..I wanted him to have one for his Bday and i looked all over and what i foudn was SB with lids and they wanted liek $30 and more for them i was shocked!! sooo i did some thinking..i went and got a clam shelled kitty pool..and when i put another on top it was a perfect match!! and right there was only $10 for two! sooo i filled it and when hes done he know immediately put the lid on or the kitties will pooh in it!! And he didnt want that,,and at night just in case..i put some bricks all over it and it keeps the lid on..but when the weather starts getting bad..and really windy..i bought bungee cords to hold the lid on..:)

When my kids were growing up we rented an apartment and never did have a sandbox. They went to city parks to play in sandboxes. My 2 grandsons have a pirate themed playground set thats being turned into a new fort. They have dirt piles in their yard. Does that count? HAHAHA!!
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My kids love the sandbox. We have one that is under a clubhouse type with a slide to get down from the clubhouse. It isn't covered. We live out in the country and haven't had any problems with animals getting in it yet! If I did have one with a cover, it would never be covered anyways because the kids are always in it.

For a few minutes we actually thought about getting the children a sandbox. We figured that they would really enjoy it. Then we heard a couple of our dogs bark. Now I bet you you are wondering what that has to do with the children having a sandbox. Well the dogs are barking at the next door neighbors cat who is allowed to run free through the neighborhood. If we put a sandbox out in the yard her cat will use it as a litterbox so we decided not to.

That would be a negative...my kids are 24 and 19...lol..but I have 2 grandsons 5 and 3 but do not have a sand box for them...The neighbors behind us have a lot of sand left over from when they put a pool in...now when the boys come over we play in their sand...I am always checking for cat poo and pee, because I wouldn't want the boys to get into that....If I did have one it would have a cover...cat proof for sure....

We do not currently have one. But we had one at our old home and yes it had a cover. We always had a problem with bugs getting into it some how though.

I've been pretty lucky, we haven't had any bugs in our sandbox. Usually just some leaves from the trees.
