Fun ways to learn

I often try to make a game of it . To teach colors I use a box of smarties and for every color they get right they get to eat that color . Repetition makes it that much easier for them and it is amazing how quick they will catch on by focusing on one color day til they know them all . We have used this method to teach my daughter how to learn her number is french and english and she knows them in spanish from watching Dora on t.v . We try different games such as this that we find keeps the child's attention span long enough to do it and rewarding them with something small to make it fun for them :)

My kids are 22 and 27 years old now so I am pretty much done teaching them. However, when they were young my wife and I used to read to them and they had toys that helped them learn shapes and colors. We also taught them how to count.
