Would you turn your back from God too?

Ok, I was in this taxi on my way to church. The taxi driver asked of my destination and when I told him I'm going to a church, he started asking me a lot of things about the church that I'm affiliated with.
I noticed he knows so much about the church so I asked him if he was once a member or is still a member. He frowned a little and gave out a heavy sigh. I started to apologize for asking the question, that I might have offended him or something, when he waved his hand and told me "It's ok, I was a member alright" I said nothing. Then he continued, "I was young when I became a member, then my brother didn't like me joining the church, I decided to quit attending the worship service because my bother pays for my tuition, I had to follow his will..." In the back of my mind, I wanted to ask him "What about the will of the Father?" He seems to hear my mind speak when he said, "Yeah, I turned my back from HIM because I badly needed my bother's support for my studies" Then he chuckled and continued, "Well, look at me now, I never finished my studies and is driving a taxi for a living..."
I tried to console him by telling him his job is not lucrative alright but there's nothing to be ashamed of, he's not stealing from anybody. Then just before I got off the taxi, I said, "You made a wrong decision, but it's not too late to repent and go back to Him" he smiled and said, he's planning to because he felt so lost without God by his side.
Well, I'm sure his young mind never helped him chose the right path to walk on in that difficult decision-making part of his life, he was thinking he's saving himself from hunger and poverty by following his brother. Well, he realized he's wrong. What about you? What could you have done? What could be your decision?

Don't be discourage by the previous post.
Like you, I believe in God. If I were in the predicament of the driver I would not turn my back on Him. For HIS grace is sufficient for me.
And in answer to the 2nd post. The reason why there are a lot of sufferings in the world is because men are corrupt. It is man's doing why the world is in its present state. If you analyze carefully why the world is like this right now you will find out that man is the ultimate culprit. Greed, selfishness, corruption, sin has cause all of the bad things that you see happening around us.
And for those Christians that keeps on committing the same sin all over again there are circumstances behind they're lives that none of us knows. Why be pre-occupied with other people's sin? What he/she does is for God to judge not ours. If you see something that is not right then by all means confront the person or asked your elders. Don't judge a belief system solely by basing it on its members. People makes mistakes and will dissappoint you.
How many times have you commit a mistake against your parents again and again. Did they forgive you or not?

Oh, and when you commit a mistake against yourparents, you generally don't do it again and again and get forgiven, just the first time. So, perhaps all thesuffering in theworld is your God'sway of punishing all the greedy, selfish people who believe in him? If so, He's punishing the wrong people. i wouldn't want to worship a being like that, I'd despise it.

where did you get your statistics? have you actually done a survey? where is your proof? if what your saying is true then I felt sorry that that is the case . The try and be friends with the remaining 1% or find another church. when you see something wrong being done by the majority do you jump in with them or stand out from the crowd?
and again why be pre-occupy yourself with other people ? when you face God you will give an account of your own deeds. no one can give an account for another person except the person himself/herself.
And the suffering of these world is a resulf of men's actions. Every action that we do have consequences. So the bad things happening in the world are the consequences of our actions.

If there is 'GOD', there wouldnt be so much sufferings in the world, there wouldn't be so much natural disaters in the world, there wouldn't be so much deaths in the world. The taxi driver is responsible for his decision and actions. He choose his own path not 'GOD'. Christians believe in 'GOD' but after the prayers in Church, they commit the 7 sins REVENGE, VANITY, ENVY, GLUTTONY, LUST, GREED AND SLOTH, and ask 'GOD' for fogiveness and then again they commit the 'sins' again and again and again, then ask for forgiveness again and again and again. Well done!

It saddens me to see such replies here. Just like the first reply, I don't wanna express anything against your beliefs, I just hope you'll not regret that later.... Good luck!

Sorry, I don't believe in god any more, i lost my belief long ago, and have never been happier or felt freer.I no longer worry if I am sinning, since there is no sin, and I take full rsponsibility for all my actions both bad and good. No longer do I feel I have to give thanks to someimaginary being for letting me succeed at something. I know I did it all on my own

Oh, that's too bad, I don't think I'm in the position to say anything against that because I don't know you personally but whatever it is that you are doing and believing right now, I hope you won't regret them later.... Good luck

I have never been a very religious person. but i liked your response, that you felt free and happy after losing your faith in god. i can never understand the people who let themselves and their lives be run by a fantasy man.
@Maple, i would have chosen the tuition as well. people need to eat and be sheltered in order to survive. one can still believe in god, and honor him in their own way if thats their belief, and NOT attend church, or worship with dozens of other people. not attending church isnt turning your back on God. he didnt say "i needed my brothers help, so i stopped believing in god". he said he did not go to church anymore in order to receive the help he needed.

God is great, the only thing is, yeah, people call only call His name if we are in need and we tend to forget Him if we're so busy with things enjoying or stuff. well, He's a good Lord!
i have turned my back against him for so many times and still He managed to try to bring back my faith to Him again. Especially now this Holy Week. We have to remember all the things that Jesus did for us.
God loves us so much!

well, that's all crap!!!!!!!!!!!Because if "God' was so good as you idiotically claim, then why many people turn away from him, and most of them have the same reason..."God" doesn't care. That's because this "God" of yours have heaped curses towards humanity and the earth.
My god Lord Satan, on the other hand has never betray me and has been always kind to me.I have problems but i would rather live today then live before i found him

i agree with u.God is really great.most people dont accept that because of the fact that they are experiencing so many difficulties in this life.they just want to enjoy the benefits of His blessings but they dont want to suffer to be worthy of those blessings.why do a lot of people put themselves at the level of God and judge Him for what is happening in this world???who are they to judge Him???He has all the right to do what He wants because He created us.most of the time, people think that He left them to suffer in this world.but mind them, they were the ones who turned away from Him and refused to return back to Him in the first place...im very sorry, but then its very unjust to comment against Him without looking at the misdeeds that you have done against Him...
