We have one cat who literally flicks her tail all the time while she is awake. My husband says this is an indication of her "mood". Can anyone tell me if I am right in thinking that this generally means that a cat is not in a good mood? Hubby says it means she is just thinking or daydreaming and that her actual brainwaves are probably pretty flat while she assumes this posture. He says, "Her mind is totally blank at this moment..." letting his voice drift off mysteriously. So very funny, but I can't say who is funnier...my husband or the cat?

It is easy to read MY CAT's mind! If his tail is flicking at the tip... ...this means - 'Get me some POUNCE!!' (kitty-treats) If his tail is thrashing from side to side... ...this means "I'm agitated - Get me some POUNCE!!" If his tail is up tall or like a comma... ...this means "Help me, I'm searching for my POUNCE!" If his ears are flat to his head that's trouble... ...this means "You Bought the wrong treats - go back to the store and GET ME THE POUNCE!!!" If his ears and tail are both up tall, he's happy and ...this means "Hey - THANKS FOR THE POUNCE!" :)

My husband says his cats tell him if they want dry or moist cat food, but they don't name any of the brands, except Meow Mix....and that's strange because the almost never have that. Usually they get friskies or whiskas. We do have one cat who has specific body language for catnip though.

Cats are always truthful about the way they feel. You can tell if a cat is pensive - the tail will flick slowly, once every four or five seconds. If a cat is angry, they will shake their tail like a rattlesnake -- very fast, and after, if you back away, they will slap their tails hard on the surface they're nearest to. That slap is a warning - like a beaver slapping its tail on the ground, or a rabbit thumping the ground. When a cat is happy, its tail will remain still, or if walking, will raise up like a flagpole or a comma. Watch a cat's ears, too - they act just like a person's eyebrows. When angry, they crush down, when happy or surprised, they rise up tall. If you watch your cat long enough, you will get to know exactly what they are thinking, even in sleep.

When the cat is happy to see you it will wrap around your legs with it's tail straight up in the air, purring like mad.

Some times we can know cat mood from his attitude Some times cat behavior looks like a dog ^^

I tend to disagree. I don't think dogs and cats behave the same.

With mine find it is becuse they are not sure what to do next, however, should the tail flick qucikly and with purpose, look out an attack is imminent

Mimi doesn't usually attack anything except the dog. But she flicks her tail almost constantly. I have never seen a cat flick so consistently as she does.
