I was watching Gigs for Gags on Tvmobile. It was an entertaining program where the TV crew sets up a plot and goes round catching and tricking people offguard. The victims gets a shock turned surprise when they realised what has happened. It is sort of hiliarious to watch their facial and body expressions - the shocking surprise, follow by the the blurred look and then the realisation and they all laughed it off finally. I sometimes find it offensive at the pranks played even though I was not the victim, yet the victims took it in stride. If someone had played a "good natured" joke on you, If someone had insulted you intentionally, If someone had condemned you behind your back, If someone had given you empty praise; If ....... it's for you to add to the list:P How easily are you able to laugh it off? Do share your views and experiences. Thank you.

If someone played a "good natured" joke on me, that someone will lost a good friend in the person of me. If someone had insulted me intentionally, I will simply tell that someone to back off. If someone had condemned me behind my back, I will walk away from this someone without looking back. If someone had given me empty praise, I will look at that someone point blank and raise my eyebrow. If someone dared to steal my carrots, that someone better run as fast as he can. I can rightly hop in front of him and bite him with all my might. :P

I have seen the program you are talking about and let me tell you, it is a really funny and hilarious thing to watch the way people respond to the pranks played on them. I personally feel that it is OK to perform this pranks till the time they are not harming any individual in type of way. But i hope that i don't get caught in anyone of them...lol...just don't like the feeling of people fooling me and looking like a total dumb in front of the camera. Gosh, cant even imagine something like it.

I don't think I could laugh it off easily esp. if I have been insulted and humiliated in front of a lot of people. I have been victimized by such pranks and I tend to try my best to just simply avoid them and prevent any unpleasant things to happen. I don't want to be cruel to them even if they are already hurting my feelings for the sake of fun.

I understand what you are saying. I had a friend who cried when we celebrated her birthday against her wishes. To us, it was just a happy joke but to her, it was a deadly prank. We learnt our lesson.

Yes,I too watch a similar program-'Just for gags'.It's hilarious and addictive.Yes, I have imagined myself in that situation.I think I can take those jokes well and perhaps even return the favour at the right time :-P If it's a stranger who criticised me behind my back,I'd like to know him more. However, if someone insults me intentionally and I 'Feel' insulted, then I won't laugh it off.:-P As for an empty praise,I'll say thanks and move on.It doesn't bother me.What bothers me more is constant bickering.I like people who are easy going and can appreciate humor. By the way,I hope you survive ,lol.

Oh, I have always managed to steer away from being a target, so I survived. And I am beginning to appreciate humour used on me. If my friends are happy, I am happy. LOL.

No way! I am not that friendly. You will get a murderous look from me and you will probably die from it before the clock strikes twelve. :P I feel that this kind of programs (like gotcha too) should be removed. They are bringing out the sides of people which they might want hidden without their choice. Would you really be excited to be captured on TV for scolding someone who cheat you of your money (only to realise it was a silly gotcha joke)? There are many examples one can think of. If fact, one just need to watch the program to see how sick the whole thing is.

Catcha! Your murderous look is now on candid camera. I just can't imagine how it looks. Thanks for allowing me to take the picture. At times, I do think such program helps them to relax and take it easy too. My friends, if you do not see me around tomorrow, you know I am being murdered :P

I have taken a few rough jokes in my time, being a teenager they come hard for me. We pull some of the most rotten pranks on each other, however I also don't really take it too seriously. ( I like to laugh it off)I can remember having a sleep over when I was thirteen and my brothes came in while we were sleeping and drew all over our faces with lipstick and markers. It took weeks to get it off, but I told everyone that my markers were possesed and that they attacked me(problem solved everyone laughed). I also remember at time when my husbands friends came over for the night to party, and after they were asleep we put shaving cream on there heads and shaved em raw. They laughed so hard because they looked so funny, they didn't take it seriously at all. I also remember my husband telling me that at boot camp they put seran wrap over all the toilets and gave all the bed mates choco-lax. It was a big mess he said, however it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen.

I think I would be able to laugh it off.. Of course I saw one episode of one type of this show last week, which my son was watching, that was so ridiculous I don't know how the guy could've fallen for it.. But as a rule most of these type shows are very entertaining.. Of course none of them compare to the old "Candid Camera" episodes.. the first of them all! Those were great! :))

I may laugh it off in person because some battles are just not worth fighting, but if it was like somebody talking behind my back, I would be hurt and not associate much with that person in the future.

Wouldn't it be too easy on that person? For me, I would have given him a piece of my mind unless I have already written him off :p

I sometime do some of these pranks on my friends, only to them, as I do not have any knack on playing it with other people whom I do not know personally. We have those types of shows here, and there are really other's who does take it seriously. They do not know what to do at some certain situations, and most of them do get caught off-guard. There are also other's who do understand, that they easily gather up their senses when they realized that they are just pranked upon.

it really depends on my daily mood. if i have a good mood i really don't care if someone will play a a joke on me..i will laugh with them and everyone will be happy and if i will wake upin a bad mood..i really won't be able to laugh at things that are done to me as a joke. i usually am able to laugh things off on regular days:)

What a sad thing that we do things based on mood. If only one can laugh with anyone, everyone would be happy and the world would be more pleasant place to live in :)

I have a serious problem . I can't keep smile away from my lips. I'm a ever smiling guy and never upset on any possible topic . If somebody insults me I try to ignore the comment and even the person if the person does this on regular basis. I'm laughing like mads 24 hours.

i think that i can take things easily. life is too short to get mad or upset about non-sense type of things. i try to let things roll off of my shoulder as much as i can. if someone played a joke on me, i dont get mad, as long as it was in good taste. i do get mad when the joke was meant to make me look extremely foolish or if it was meant to be demeaning or degrading in any way. today my brother called to pull off an aprils fool joke. he got me. it had completely slipped my mind that today was april fools. well, when i gasped, he laughed and told me the truth. i laughed it off and called him a brat. :) there are some jokes that i have seen played on others, that i didnt think were funny at all. i got mad at my husband for laughing at one that was done to a freind of his (my husband had to part in it) because it was so mean. one friend called another friend to invite him to the movies with a bunch of other guys that were supposedly already waiting there. nobody was at the movies, but this invited friend got really excited and went, only to find out that nobody was there. i didnt think that was funny at all. i was mad at my husband for thinking that it was. there is a difference of being funny and just being mean.

Being mean is never funny. I agree. I would be angry too if I were the invited friend. Thanks for sharing :)

Hi Whyaskq! I don't know really. It would quite depend on my mood too because if I had a bad day. I won't be able to consider it as a joke and laugh about it. Or if I'm in a good mood, that would be a great day. And it doesn't hurt to laugh sometimes at yourself too. But I'm usually a happy person, and love to tease my friend and familes. But I haven't got the chance to do pranks. I leave it to the professionals because it may be risky too if you meet a violent type of person that doesn't like to be prank. Have a nice day! (^^,)

In my opinion, to be able to laugh at yourself is the most wonderful thing in the world. And teasing, yes. it is a good form of relaxation.

Watching shows like this makes me laugh till the last of my breath. Practical jokes can be offensive but they really makes my day watching people from their own funny moments. There are jokes that may not that funny to look at but they are still makes you smile. America's Funniest Home Videos is my favorite show. They never failed to make me laugh.

I can still laugh my heart out on some stuffs, but if these pranks go beyond the limit, like knowing that I have already been so carried away and even felt so bad, and yet they didn't yet tell me that it was some kinda scripted, I would find it hard to cast even a slightest smile to them.
