The average Muslim is a human being like anyone else. Where they differ is the tolerance they have of violent individuals in their midst.
Christianity has thrown out the violent sects of Christianity such as the Klu Klux Klan, which actually claims to be Christian based. The KKK and others of their ilk are reviled and despised.
Islam mostly regards its violent sects as heroes.
I think Muslims are overly tolerant of violence that's why they have so much of it.

It would be like if you asked, what do I think of Christians. That is a general question. How can I answer it? We are all individuals.

Most of my Friends are Muslims & they are really lovely people. I live in Bombay, where people are very secular in nature. Actually we dont have the time to squabble about religion. My best friends are Muslims & I celebrate Id with them , they also enjoy Diwali with us. So there's no difference in being a hindu or a muslim....

When I first read Shaanigi's question, I wondered why the question was brought up.
Perhaps shaanigi is of the Muslim faith, and, due to the issue of world terrorism being associated with the Muslim faith, shaanigi is experiencing unfavorable behavior towards these people?
I am an American citizen, and 911 has been blamed on terrorists of the radical Muslim faith. So, yes, when some American people see a person wrapped in the garb that Muslims wear, there is the tendency to shun them, or walk away in fear. I am NOT one of them.
I see Muslims everywhere - as clerks in WalMart, grocery stores, as well as customers, and I respond and treat them no differently than I would anyone else.
Whatever religion one chooses to put faith within is not of my concern. I will associate with anyone, regardless of their faith, as long as the person is not a thief, a murderer, or rapist, or involved in other illegal activities. And, I will do so with the same respect I would appreciate in return.
So, if you, shaanigi, ARE a Muslim, and, follow the true Koran, stand tall, and forgive those who shun or walk in fear of the people of your faith.

when you put a hole group of people under "muslim" and ask what i think of them, its obviously a faulty question.
some muslim people are bad, some muslim people are nice, some muslim people are good, some are mean... but i can say this for every group of people, whether its gays, mexicans, atheists or conservatives. that is why this question itself is wrong.

They're people? I've known kind and caring Muslims and I've known rude and bigoted ones. Sort of like every other people group.

I, for one, am really confused in what to think of them. on one hand, i admire them so much for keeping their culture and traditions almost untouched, proving that they value their history and their are not for sale.
On the other hand, maybe due to my religion, my education and so on, i think they are tooooo radical. and i'm not talking here only about the way they treat women, i'm refering to everything they do. but maybe that is the way they managed to keep their values untouched.
and as long as they understand that you may belive in whatever you want and they don't start Jihads or anything... i have nothing against them.

I personally don't believe there is a bad religion as such I just believe there are bad people. Killing is wrong in anyones standards and we are the only animals on this earth that do so over verbal quables rather than for food, other animals fight yes, but they do not go out intentionally to kill another. I think we should respect each others religions and not fight over difference of opinion, It does not matter ultimately who wins and looses but the people who die that are the main concern and the families that greive the loss, also the innocent people who are hurt too. I think everyone should be able to have a choice of which religion they choose but hurting another person because of it is no better than the football hooligans who kill others just because of the team they support. don't get me wrong I am not comparing religion to a football team just the irony of the innocent people who get killed because of it. I had a party for my duaghter on her birthday and people who attended had different dietry requirements and beliefs, and I catered for all as much as possible and everyone had a great time, I just wish teh world could see things through a childs eyes as watching all the children playing together without a care in teh world although they came from different backgrounds is something I will always remember and smile about. if only we all had such innocence and could take each other as we are no matter what skin colour, religion or language or beliefs.

What I think of Muslim people? That they are people, nothing else. Men and women, children and their grandparents... Please, let's stop to generalize! It would seem that people on Earth walked with stamps on their skin, like cattlebrands: Muslims, Christians, Atheists, even Men, Women, as if they could be classified by these brands.
Does somebody really think that violence is related to a special religion? Or a special country? History tells the contrary. I'm Christian, I pray that Muslims can be reached for Christ, I invert in Christian Missions ... but I'd never think that Muslims are another kind of people than I myself and all mankind: very much in need of God's love and mercy.

The Muslims that I know are peaceful and good people. I think that so many Muslims get categorized into a group with the extremist Muslims who commit terrorist attacks. This is not fair to do.

Well i cant say that i mean i have few close ppl from the muslims and i have seen really good ppl in them, but yeah i have also seen some harshly voilent ppl and when asked for their overly harsh treatment, they say thats how they are supposed to be, i mean thats what their religion accepts and agrees on......well, the worst case i have seen is few of my muslim female friends just nodding their heads to their husbands in what ever they say.i cant really mention them, but i am like dumbstruck when asked how can they tolerate it, they are like, its okay.thast accepted ...(monopoly etc...)Well but they are good.my friends they are good of nature......i just cant say.......

why ask non muslims about them ? ask about them from someone from their own community. i mean if someone asked yr cousin about an opinion of yr best friend im sure yr cousin wont be able to give a true answer. because he or she doesnt know about yr friend so well. he or she is just a distant observer. same goes for this discussion. ask a Muslim. i think Muslims are very good, they have the most purest teachings amongst them. and they are one of the kindest generations. i happened to read Prophet Muhammad's biography and i realised that he is the Hero of this world. many researches have shown that no dictator, king, fighter or anybody else has come up to his standard
