My kids are out for the summer....and instead of leaving them to television and video games, I thought to "homeschool" them for the summer. I have a list of activities for them to do, including art, reading and vocabulary. Any links to specific sites would be much appreciated! My kids are ages 9, 7, and 6. My nieces are also "enrolled" in my "school" (LOL!) and are ages 10 and 9. The 7-year old is the only boy in the bunch; the rest are girls. I hope to hear from you!

We had a voluntary setup in the UK called Anglia Holiday Club where mums took it in turns to take a gang of kids off to do something in the holidays. It is brilliant and the range of things to do was vast. I'm into sailing so took them all om my old sailing boat. Somebody else was keen on fishing, another was into orienteering, another arhery. Then there indoor events, acting, sewing/dressmaking, model planes, etc. It all grew from a very small group into something quite big but still voluntary and run by mums who are all faced with the same problem. Good luck.

thanks smacksman! I think that's very cool for the mums to do that! I've enlisted the help of my sister in law, who will be doing a class in crafts. The girlfriend of my brother has volunteered to do a class on cooking :) But it's still up to me to have some sort of structure for the kids, lol!

Well done you. It does take time to grow. Once the kids get home and rave over what they have done, the parents start to think what they can do!

that's great. kids these days spend their holidays wasting time, or getting into mischief. how about scrapbooking? since you're kind a into it as well, you could give them a scrapbooking session as a sort of art and craft. they could decorate a photoframe or something and put their favourite photo in it as a form of altered art scrapping as well!

Here is my own personal backflip page. It only has about 200 links on it right now but I've got another 400 saved on my computer that I'm slowly adding to it. Most of the sites are free and for all ages. I hope it helps. :) http://backflip.com/members/jocoiner/ The backflip thing is free so you can even start one for your own links (it makes it easier on your bookmarks on your computer. lol)
