Tourism has been one of the potential income generator for most countries. People visit the respective countries in the hope to spend their money in the country the visited. This year Malaysia has made 2007 as the year to visit the country and luring tourists from all parts of the world to come and visit us, visiting all the touristic places, islands, places of interests and so on. However, I read one article in the newspaper quoted that the number of tourists in January did not meet the Visit Malaysia 2007 target. Deputy Tourism Minister Datuk Donald Lim Siang Chai said that the ministry was keeping the arrivals and taking measures if there was a shortfall in arrivals in any month. He reported that 1.58 million tourists visited Malaysia in January 2007, or an 8.9% increase over the 1.45 million in the corresponding period last year. Their target was to get 20 million visitors this year and a 15% increase is needed each month to meet the target. What would be the problem or issues that had caused the shortfall in the number of tourists coming to Malaysia in order to meet the target? Have we got not enough interesting places for the tourists to visit? Is the advertising, marketing and promotional activities have not been successful of creating the excitement amongst the visitors to come and visit us? Wht do you think of the causes?

Visiting Malaysia and attracting tourists should be an ongoing campaign. And Visit Malaysia Year 2007 is aimed to do so. So far, from the response from some myLot users, they do have a good impression on Malaysia, though they've yet to visit. The good thing is that, Malaysia is on their mind :) So, even if tourist arrivals do not meet the target, but if it helps in the long term, then that will be beneficial to Malaysia eventually - and for years to come :) Warmest regards QuaChee http://www.themalaysiapage.com

Malaysia is where my family and i most visited every year.i think there are quite enough adverts telling bout the visit Malaysia year 2007.For the decreasing of tourists in Malaysia,of course i dont know! haha..I think i would ask all my family,friends and peoples out there to help increase Malaysia tourists in 2007..since its a Visit Malaysia year.Especially the islands in Malaysia.

I think they assume us as a terrorist country. This because our main religious is Islam and most of people here is muslim. they are scared with us. By the same time, we are have a lot of Bangaldeshi and Indonesian and some of Nepalese that always make a havoc to our country. They are many crime they make. In other reason is our price different with local. What I mean let say if you want to buy 'Nasi Goreng', they charge the tourist or visitors more than they charge for local people like us.
