Bringing children into bad situations.

I understand the desire to have children. I have children. I'd have a few more if I could do so.
Can anyone explain to me tho' why people who are struggling to feed, clothe, house and otherwise take care of several children; people who complain about how hard it is to make ends meet, people who claim to desire better standards of living but, who say that can't get ahead enough to do so, why do they continue to have more kids? Doesn't it seem like holding off until you get more stable would be a better idea?

Yes, I agree. I had some friends who desperately wanted a baby, but I wouldn't even let my kid go into their house, as it was a disaster, roaches, dog poo, and clothes everywhere, and they were so poor, I dont know what they spent their money on, but it was awful...they had roaches coming out of there car, and their pants, it was disgusting. I felt bad that she couldnt have children, but in a way I was glad, because you dont want a kid living in that situation. We are no longer friends, but I know things with them are still the same, and I cant help, but be a little glad they didnt get a kid, as It would not be a good environment for one.

See, that's one of the other things that kinda bothers me. Not in all cases mind you, but a lot of thimes kids are coming into a world where they are barely taken care of or even abused. And it is not that hard or all that expense to take steps not to create kids if you can't take care of them or yourself.

I know, but the problem is the people who cant even care for themselves, are being selfish in that they really want kids, and unfortunately no on can stop them from doing that, and then the poor kids are left to grow up in an environment like that. No one thinks about the money, or the well being of the child, they just think I want a kid.

Sadly having a child does not solve all your problems and can often create more, but you are right there is no way to keep people from doing what they are going to do.

i think exactly like u and i'll tell u the india trend ,male child is considered to be must for a family so there are many families who have 8 or 9 girls and still they dare to hv because they want boy,why so because hindus are creamated and only a son can do this not a daughter ,plus we hv still faith in joint families and son will be bread earner, this is about common peole ,other poor people want more children so when children grow up alil they can earn as child labourer.it is pathetic i know

That is sad. Male or Female is a quirk of fate. I have heard stories where there are areas of the world where baby girls were aborted to to point that they now don't have enough women to marry to the men. I feel you should be happy for either gender of shild as long as they are healthy. It does afterall take two humans to produce a new human.

Well, I'd actually like to have a larger family myself. Many of my ancestors had fourteen or so children who also had fourteen or more children. I'm just saying that in today's society it is difficult to support that many and if you are choosing to have that many don't complain about supporting them. Of course for at least a month of each year I am working to support your kids if you have gotten on state welfare programs.
