Please share what it was that made you never want or crave or dream about Heroin ever again. I want the day to come where I can say "F you, Heroin. We won." I need some good advice because the detox, as bad as it got -- and it got BAD -- didn't help. Thanks for any advice. This is in regards to a male in his early 30s, eats well, works out, but just made the stupid mistake of trying Heroin one time.

My sister is also a ex heroin user, and she did the clinic thing daily and it never really helped her. Specially because on fridays they would give her enough methadone for sat and sun and she would sip off of them by the time sunday came along she would be going though withdraw. She was also in a christian half way house, and that worked for awhile, but after she left she still didnt know what to do with her time so she started smoking and drinking again which lead her back to the same place. She was so messed up that she found out she was pregnant when she was in jail, and she still used once she left! Once she had her child she found out she had hep c (the baby never got it)and I guess that got her to chnage. it was hard and I know that she is clean now, she lives with my mom in florida away from everything she new, and she has her 2 babys with her and she can take care of them now!! Once she moved to my moms house my mom wouldnt take her to the clinic cause it was to far away so they gave her pills and once she ran out that was it. When she finished her pills she was very upset, she was achy, angry, mad, and in bad pain but adventually she got over it, and relized she had to do what was right for her and her family. now she feels better than ever and I couldnt be happier for her!!!! She also goes to church a lot and has many friends from the church!!!

Wow. Thank you for sharing. Babies seem to have so much power and control over us. They truly are a miracle. I'm happy for you and your family, especially your sister. I've seen my sibling go through withdrawals. it's so hard to watch him. I know he's in so much pain. I just wish him well. I don't know what to do. Thank you again for sharing.

Seek help. If you have a strong enough will (which obviously you do if you want to give it up) you will find a way. There are three. Seek help and quit, Quit using your own will power (yes, you DO have it!), keep using it. I think the last is out of the question. I hope you make it. Let us know how you get on!

Well, I'm not the one with the problem. One of my siblings is having a tough, tough, tough time with the addiction. From what I've been told, heroin takes ahold of you and just doesn't let go. I'm looking for anybody who has quit. What did you do to quit? I really need help and advice. We've tried everything -- counseling, medicaiton, and the just-as-bad-as-heroin methadone. Thank you.

I'm having a hard time quitting myself. The thing about heroin is, everyone should know the whole don't even try it once thing is not true. People are given morphine shots everyday of every hour in every hospital but they never get addicted. Why? Because when you self-medicate, you are treating a mental state which you do not like to be in. Once you stop using heroin, guess what? You are back to that depressed, insomniac state of mind. So what can you do about it? I'm not sure, seek help.
