I was in a fraternity in college. There's certainly nothing wrong with being in a fraternity or a sorority. Granted, there are good ones, and there are bad ones, but how is that any different from any other group?
I'm certainly not going to oppose my children joining one. It was a good experience, and I can say I'm better in many ways because of it.

If you ask me, it is not needed in college. here are other organizations which would better serve the purpose helping someone in college. many people join fraternities because hey say it helps them in thier studies, relationships or whatever. i dont think so. it takes so much of your time. down from the pledging process up to the membership itself. if you really want to have your college life at ease, join school - based groups or extra - curicullar activities like sporets, academics and those things. groups when can be productive during your college years and the years after that. or you can start a group with your friends which can help you through your individual skills.

consider some other type of organization than a Fraternity /Sorority. There are plenty of other and in some cases better organizations. Knights of Columbus and rotary and Kiwanis come to mind, but I am sure there are many more that are sports, activity, or scholarly that you could research and find.

I was in a fraternity once..in college.Nothing is bad in a fraternity but some fraternities and members really promote violence.
