Waiting Rooms

United States

Ok, I can't help but start this discussion. My son has a dentist appointment today and I am totally dreading it. Do you all know the kind of doctor that schedules somthing like 10 people all at the same time? Now, he can't possible see all of those people at once but he doesn't like to wait at all. He likes to walk directly from one patient to the next. Now, I understand this appoach. He is a busy man. But, as parents, we are busy too. We often have to take off work to get to these appointments. Every time I take one of my kids to this dentist, it is a minimum of a two hour wait. To top it all off, since he schedules so many at the same time, there is standing room only in the small waiting room. I would find another dentist but he is the only child dentist in our town. Last time I went, he had 40 patients scheduled in one hour and we had to wait nearly 2 1/2 hours. Ouch!

There is no way I would continue to go to that dentist. Is your time not just as valuable as his? He is being disrespectful and making bad business decisions. When you say he is the only child dentist in the area do you mean he specializes in child dentistry or he is the only one willing to accept children as patients? My children go to see a regular dentist and she is wonderful with them. Maybe if his customers all decide they don't deserve to be treated that way and go elsewhere he will change his ways.

You know, I honestly don't know but you better bet that I will find out. I was thinking the same thing. I may not be a doctor but my time is valuable too. I work full-time (teacher) and attend classes full-time. I am a writer, parent, and small business owner. I don't have time to sit at the dentist all day just to be treated like I am taking his time. Thanks for the advice. I am going to call around dentists today in my area.
