I've been having coffee twice a day since I was 10. It became more frequent as I started goin to college. I take more coffee when I need to stay up at night. I like coffee really strong. Now I think I cant quit having coffee. Do we actually get addicted to coffee. If so what is the best way to quit?

why do you want to quit? do you have any uncomfortable feelings or illnesses that you associate with drinking coffee? they actually say that it's one of the best antioxidants. when i was little, my grandparents use to say kids are not allowed to have coffee because it gives you nervous breakdowns. now i wonder where that came from. anyway, as they always say, too much of something is bad for you. i'm a coffee addict. so maybe i'm biased. i don't see any reasons why i should stop this "addiction". hehehe.. the best advise i can give you, though, if you really want to quit is to start having it only on an occassional basis, like if you need to stay up late or for prolonged hours, or you can maybe just have it in the morning, something like that..and then lessen the intake per day. gradually of course... until the time that you feel you don't need or want it anymore.

Well... I think you don't have worry with caffein issues, because tea also have caffein inside, but infact we see people drink tea never had serious health.
So does coffee. The main problem 'addicted' is negative words, and it means if you consume it too much, maybe you will get the side effect, but it must not about the caffeine :)
Well, ok I drink coffee only 2-3 times a day, because my gastric / stomach is not well enough if I drink too much. It will cause serious problem for me so I have to watch my dose. And if you have heart attach gen and hypertention you must also be carefull to consume coffee. So it's not because of the caffeine is bad for your health but the point is, is it suit to your body ?
When I was younger, I don't have this problem, but getting older I know my weakness in my body, so for healthy shake I have to limit my dose. So... don't worry about caffeine dear... :) if your body is ok, there is no problem with that, and if you afraid consume too much, you can replace it with decaf or more creamy coffee :D

I think you don't have to quit. Caffeine is bad if you drink it too over, so in a small amount it helps your nerve system.
So, what you should do is reduce the dose.
I also drink coffe every day, and I drink maximum 3 times a day. Maybe you can start do this little by little, until you can released from coffee addict. Or if you want to have coffee more, just drink lighter coffee, with amount of cream or milk, it's quite helpful to satisfy you when you miss your coffee but you are already drink it too much :)

I don't think you get addicted to coffee.
I am only grouchy in the morning because I haven't had any coffee yet, and it helps me wake up after sleeping all night.
The shaky hands and tenseness I feel are only nerves, and a cup of coffee soothes the my early day jitters.

Yes we get addicted to coffee. If you quit cold turkey you will have headaches from not having caffiene. Some people do best switching to half caf and then decaf. It just depends on the person what works best.
