The View

I have had an enormous amout of respect for Barbara Walters for many years but her continual allowance of employment of Rosie O'Donnell on "The View" has deystroyed my "view" of this once very well respected and admired journalist. Who would have ever imagined that Barbara Walters would have ended her career with such a "National Enquirer" style of uninformed characters presenting their "views". Ratings means money, no matter the accuracy of the reporting...

I have watched the show off and on over the years and found that I have never really liked it. It was originally supposed to express the views of different generations to today's hot topics. I never felt that they included my demographic--a 30 something housewife from a middle class family. Barbara & Merideth were the only ones that I felt tried to include more than just themselves in the discussion. Star Jones was too much of a diva to give a darn about anyone else, and Joy is, well, I just don't like her. I liked Lisa Ling, and was sad that she left the show. I never liked Debbie (she was my age when the show started.) I thought she was a very poor representation of my age group. Elizabeth is OK, and probably my favorite of those that are left. I have always been a Rosie fan, but think that she's taken too much control over the show. It's become her show with "guest hosts." I think having two comedians as co-hosts has been a disadvantage for the show also. those are just my 2 cents. Take it or leave it. I guess I'll just keep watching "Barney" on PBS, and leave the View alone. LOL!

You know Barney might be the safe way to go but his views kinda scare me in other ways...lol A fan of the old "Rosie" show and her "stuff' she coughs up on the view are two completely different animals...Does she really think it's funny to cough up uninformed "views"? It's a danger..believe it or not many people are impressionable and just may believe her nonsense

Generally speaking what they do is not reporting, they are not, in terms of that show, reporters. They are comentators, their job is to give their opinion. In no way are they expected to be objective. While Rosie O'Donnell is controversial, since she started on the show ratings have increased, therefore she will stay, ratings are everything. Barbara Walters has spent most of her professinal life being what people expected her to be, no she gets to let it all go and say what whe wants, on a personal level she likely injoys that. While Barbara Walters in a major owner in the show I do not think that she is legally allowed to decide on her own who will and will not be fired.

Well obviously there is no legal reasoning for firing Rosie, just the "right" thing to do to bring value to the program....Objective comment is of course the premise of the view, but intelligent comment would bring the view to a differtent importance to the world and nation...Valuable commentary

Well angel, they might as well be contenders to the next Miss America...The contest has lost all value (if it ever had a shred). I guess the only thing I can think of as value added to the pagent is it's now proof that no one is clean, no one is perfect..no matter what they say in the pagent application form....
