I just can't seem to win when it comes to the dentist.

No matter how many times I brush, how hard I brush, or the toothpaste I use and yet it always backfires on me at the end. I follow what the dentist tells me. I even make sure to floss and use listerine on a daily basis. Yet the dentist never fails to find something wrong with my teeth. Whenever it be part of my gum being inflated, a cavity, or de-calfication. Sometimes it's not fair. I know people who brush their teeth once or twice a day, and yet their teeth remain healthy. I brush my teeth at least three times a day, and I floss after I eat. After I shower and before I go to bed I make sure to use listerine or whatever kind of mouthwash I have. Even after almost six years of braces my teeth still aren't straight enough. I wear my retainer 24/7 and yet that has done nothing to stop my teeth from moving. I went through hell to get straight teeth, and at at the end it wasn't even wrong it. I might as well just spent the money to get something put over my teeth or to fill in the gaps. I just feel as if I put all this hard work, and yet it never pays off. At the same time I'm warding off genetic issues dealing with my gums. The dentist just lectures me time after time. They just assume I'm lying to them when I tell them that I brush my teeth or that I use listerine. Yet all they can do is hand me a $24 of toothpaste that's suppose to help. (My teeth are clean. That's not the issue. The issue is that I'm still getting ending up with pin-hole cavities.) I'm even cut back on sugary foods. I don't know. I'm just jealous of the people who can have healthy teeth without even trying.

If it helps I never had trouble with my teeth until I started using flouride toothpaste and had to deal with flouridated water. Some people do not respond well to flouride and you should check out the information on flouride because too much can cause problems as well. Here are a few links to check out: http://www.mbschachter.com/dangers_of_fluoride_and_fluorida.htm http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/fluoride.htm http://essenes.net/flouride.html http://www.ecomall.com/greenshopping/fluoride.htm I would suggest using either a toothpaste without flouride (they can be found) or try using just baking soda it might taste nasty but it cleans the teeth great. Do not brush more then twice a day; just brush once in the morning and once at night. Over brushing can damage the enamel. Use a soft tooth brush as well and not a hard one. Hope this helps.

I have a similar problem, so I can relate. All I can suggest is to make sure you don't use any of the 'natural' toothpastes- your mouth REALLY needs flouride---and use the right kinds of oal care products. You need to use soft-bristled toothbrushes, preferably the vibrating ones, and make sure that you are brushing your teeth, gums, tongue, and any other surface in your mouth. Those pink tablets which temporarily stain the plaque on your teeth will help you to get rid of it. Make sure that you are flossing correctly, both side to side and up and down, around all the surfaces of the teeth. Also make sure you get regular cleanings, and know that the Colgate 12-hour toothpaste is generally considered to be the best. Other than that, I can't really help you. Lots of warm energy that you can this all under control...

Forget the fluoride. Eat good food (milk or cheese or yogurt, greens like brocolli, chard, ...), don't suck on lemons or drink a lot of soda; and here's a big tip; buy a Waterpik. Using a waterpik once or twice a day will get all the crude off your teeth and from around the braces. I know, both my kids have braces. The dentist was amazed at how clean their teeth were after they started using the waterpik. The cost about $30 at store like Target. Good luck.
