How about a resounding no... in both cases.
The Nuggets are not consistent enough on the inside to contend woth guys like Stoudemire or Marion, nor are they quick enough (with the possible exception of Allen Iverson) to cover the suiqck guards like Devin Harris or playmaking guards like Steve Nash...
In 7 games, I think the Nuggets could take one, maybe, from either team, but that would be it.

Hmm... interesting thoughts.but if, and that is IF, the nuggets, especially AI will play the way they/he played against the Suns when AI drained 44 pts and 15 assists consistenty, then i really believe they are a Championship contender.

I guess... good luck with that one. Iverson wouldn't be able to do that and keep it up... without suffering in different areas...
Iverson's 44/15 would be counterbalenced by a solid 20 each from Nowitzki and Jason Terry. Don't forget Josh Howard and Devin Harris. Either guard, Harris or Terry, is quick and could be a mismatch for whoever gets the unhappy assignment of guarding that one. Josh Howard will cancel out Carmelo Anthony, who I sitll don't think is a strong enough leader to carry this team when needed, and then you're left with... "who guards Nowitzki?"
Meanwhile, Phoenix might be a tougher matchup in a long series. The Suns run up and down the court at will... they will shoot, and shoot, and shoot some more. There is no way the Nuggets offense would be able to keep up that kind of pace for 48 minutes. Nash, Barbosa, Bell, Diaw, Banks, Marion, Jones, Stoudemire, Thomas... they can all score, all put some points on the board. This team has six players that average more than 10 points/game. Bell can cover Iverson; he won't shut him down, but he should do enough to limit his effectiveness. Marion, Barbosa, Nash, and Stoudemire still average more than 17 points a game... This team shoots nearly 50% from the field (49.7%) and 40% from 3-point range.... the Nuggets don't have that kind of firepower...

I don't think they can get past either Phoenix or Dallas. Suns should go all the way this year.

i dont think the nuggets could get past the firs round this season. they would most likely end up at 6th, and the san antonio spurs awaits them. the spurs are on a rampage lately, and for sure will be taking a serious playoff run again. the best way for the nuggets to get past the first round is climb up to the 5th spot to face the inexperienced utah jazz, but no. 5 seat is very unlikely since the houston rockets have already sealed it. just best wished for AI, melo and JR. hope they could make some noise in the playoffs

Denver will be eliminated in the first round because their line up cannot match-up against San Antonio. They dont have anybody to match up against Tim Duncan. They need to get a good center to compliment Melo and AI. They should get KG in order for them to have a chance in winning the championship. The team is good but not good enough to win the championship, their forwards and center are slow and inconsistent. They need a center who will show up every night, not like brilliant tonight and the next game is zero.

I really think Denver can win the series with Dallas or Phoneix if only they can figure out how to form a solid back up group for their two all-star. AI-Melo combo can't really compete alone with such teams because they would definitely be exhausted with Dallas/Phoenix playing style. Other players should step up both defensively and offensively. AI-Melo should also begin to be more consistent because the playoffs are near. They can pull an upset in the playoff first round as long as they play defense and maintain their offense. AI should also avoid to make many TOs because that would definitely be a big blow to them.

against the suns, they might have a chance. the suns are not playing a really good defense basketball and denver has a lot of scorers who could take advantage to it. the only thing they should be aware against the suns is the uptempo offense. no other team could come close to the suns when it comes to running and open court games, especially when steve nash is running the floor. phoenix usually disappoint teams with this type of basketball. against dallas, they have a very slim chance. the mavericks so far is the most complete and competitive team in the nba today, not to mention the spurs. dallas have dirk, stackhouse, terry and a bunch of veterans from the bench who could take over games. plsu the mavs play better defense too. its no doubt they're the number 1 team in the nba right now. but who knows, maybe iverson could come up with a string of 60 point games, the nuggets might as well upset the dream season of dallas

the Nuggets is a good team.they have melo and AI with them.the back ups are performing well.they're good.but not great.they're still young and the recent changes in the line-up means non-familiarity and less team work.they still have a long way to go.maybe AI can still wait a bit longer for a ring.

The Denver Nuggets have absolutely no chance of advancing in the playoffs. They will be knocked out in the first round for sure. It's just another down year for Allen Iverson.

I believe Denver has the chance and they should really grab them. By this time, they must find already answers to their shortcomings. The Western Conference is pretty tough. Phoenix is on a run, San Antonio is warming-up, and the Dallas Mavericks is hungrier than ever. If Denver thinks they could win the Conference title, they should fight and die for it.

i think denver is a good team but in order to be great team they need to have a deeper bench. i know that they have a very competitive bench but it is not enough when your bench doesn't deliver. denver also needs a good front court to support their 2 all-stars AI and melo. yes, they have marcus camby and nene but you can see that they are not consistent enough in their games. they also have an injured k-mart that hasn't seen action this season. i think that if they enter the playoffs and face either the suns or mavs they will have a tough time playing them, maybe take a game or two but they wil definitely not take the series. but you'll never know in the nba, one minute their underdogs the next they are a championship team. we'll never know until the playoffs start.
