Well, yes,i often can not go to sleep. At this time,i will get up and watch some tv programmes and then i will feel very tired and can go to sleep easily. But sometimes my eyes hurt even when i cannot go to sleep and close my eyes.I mean i can't go to sleep, but my eyes and brain are tired. So what i can do is just lie on the bed frustrated. I think it really bad,and in the morning, you can not concentrate on anything.

Insomnia is definitely a pain in the *ss. Well but if it isn't that often for you to not be able to sleep, the situation is still optimistic. As far as I know, people can't sleep because their brains are still very active when they are supposed to be more sedative in order to get re-energized. And usually our brains are active because we can't get certain things off our mind - we are either sober knowing we are still contemplating on that or just subliminally thinking about that. Either way it doesn't look pretty. I still remember the first time I move off campus to this shared apartment with my classmates. Maybe I was still excited about the whole thing or my mind was somewhere else; I couldn't sleep that very first night off campus. I figured, why waste my time lying in bed praying to be sleeping instead of doing something that can really help? So I got up and turned on my computer, and stared at the screen until my eyes were tired. Then I knew I was ready to sleep, and so I was. Slept through the whole night. So, if you can't sleep at night, try doing something stupid, meaningless, boring. And better not have coffee or tea 3 hrs before you sleep - that stuff is supposed to make your brain active for at least 3 hours, scientifically speaking.

It depends. Some times I'll keep trying by tossing and turning but most times I will get up after awhile. I'll do a few things and then try again. If that fails then I'm up for the night usually. Then I'll get on the computer or clean the house. Something to keep me busy. Then I'll crash for a few hours during the day and hope that when night comes I can sleep. Of course if I kept myself busy enough I'm so exhausted by night time I do sleep but there have been times where I'll go days without it.

I'm normally out cold when my head hits the pillow, but on the odd occasion when I am tossing and turning I will generally get up and make myself a hot milk drink...it tends to work for me.

Its horrible isnt it,I sometimes have those night s and you just lie there staring at the clock watching time go by as you wait to fall asleep.Sometimes if it gets too bad I read, even though its hard because it sometimes wakes my partner when I turn the light on,but I have found that if I read for a little while before I go to sleep and I make sure that I am really tired before i go to bed then I generally sleep ok but then again if I have lots on my mind I wake up no matter what!Sorry not much help but I can sympathize with you!

Some times I stay in bed and hope to fall asleep and other nights I get up and work on the computer. I have asthma and some times the meds keep me from sleeping well. I used to get up in the middle of the night and bake cookies and cakes. My husband was not to keen on that because when I needed stuff fromt he store at two am he had to get up and take me. I am a good cook

I enjoy reading alot. So sometimes if I can't get to sleep then I just read and that makes the hours go by nad can sometimes make me forget that I couldn't get to sleep which makes it a little easier for me to nod off. Luckily I am generally blessed though and can go to sleep in 3 seconds whenever I chose to.

I usually just lay there getting madder and madder that I can't get back to sleep =) Silly me...but if my husband is out of town (He is in the Air Force) I will lay on the couch and watch TV or read a book. Sometimes I will try to "get some"...and it usually works =)

I hate that when it happens. Usually its because I'm nervous or uneasy about something that has happened or about to happen. If I can't get to sleep then I'm either reading a book, on the computer, or watching tele. Soon my eyes get really tired and then I'm back to sleep again. Then I wake up all grumpy (not good at all!)

OH MY GOSH!! I too, suffer from many nights of not being able to get to sleep. There are also plenty of night when I do finally fall asleep, I will wake up a great number of times and have a hard time getting back to sleep..it gets sooo aggravating, when all you want is some good sleep...lol I just read an article on insomnia at www.toacorn.com and the aritcle contains tips to fighting insomnia. Maybe you could check the site out and hopefully find a tip that would help you. I am thinking of trying at least one of them..what do I have to lose? Surely not sleep..lol Good luck and best wishes to you for a good nights sleep.
