I need some advice...

I'm looking for some advice as to how to avoid stuffing myself in the evenings. I do really well during the day with eating healthy meals and snacks. But then I come home from work in the evenings and all I want to do is eat (graze) all evening! I know, I should keep busy to avoid thinking about it. It's a habit, a habit to eat my way through the evening. I need some techniques to try and break the habit. I don't want to keep ruining my good progress during the day by eating too much during the evening.

Try going on a walk instead. bring some water with you and drink all through out your walk. you could walk just around your block or something. just make sure its atleast 15-20 minutes long. exercize will eactually make you not feel hungry any more. water will fill your stomach so it wont feel hungry later. especially if you have already eaten dinner. then go for a walk. try it.

Thanks! I'll give it a try. Next time I'm sitting at home in the evenings and start to want to munch, I should just go walk on my treadmill for a bit. Sounds like a good plan. :o)

Try not to buy foods that are readily available to just munch on at home. If you have to make the effort to prepare everything first it can put you off eating so much.
Also try brushing your teeth if you get strong cravings. I have done this and it does put you off eating.
Or give yourself one treat each evening and try to leave it as late as possible. This is a way to gain willpower as you know you will have a treat if you want, but you take control of when to have it. The longer you wait the easier it will become to abstain.
Good luck!!

One thing I have done, because I find myself in the same predicament, is I drink a lot more water, water will fill you up a bit, and it's good for you too. Also, set a time when you will not eat after, like 8:00, And then don't allow yourself to eat anything after this time, even if your hungry, eat before then, then a week later move the time down to 7:30 and keep doing this until you are down to the time you would like, and eventually your body will get used to it, and stop crying hungry all night long. Also, watch what you are grazing on, try to pick things that are higher in protien and low in carbs, so at least when you go to bed, your not full of food, that will just end up being fat. Nuts are very filling and low carb, as is peanut butter. My hubby, will have a peanut butter spoon when he gets cravings (just like it sounds, a spoon dipped in pb.) Good luck.

I used to do that too. However, I was told to eat many SMALL meals during the day. I tried it and so far (it's been months now) I don't crave food late in the evenings anymore.

I actually have been eating several small meals throughout the day for a few weeks now, but maybe it takes some time to stop craving food in the evenings. Like I said, I feel like it's just a bad habit I need to find some way to break, because it's not like I'm actually hungry that late in the evening. Thank for the tip!
