I so deperately want to get my work published. I caught the eye of someone important in L.A. last year but he couldn't put the time into me and my work at that time. It crushed me that it didn't go through but if I know the right avenues to pursue this than I believe that I can. I have my own vision of what I want this book to be . I have heard some say self publishing is the way to go...What are start up costs. I have somthing valuable to say and I've been told it comes across well. Others have told me that it's too sad to make a whole book about my life and pain but I don't agree. That is why we're attraacted to the sad songs on the radio...because we relate..I just need some avenues and direction.

All I can say is keep trying. If it's a labor of love, you will be rewarded. So much of it comes down to luck. You will get a break.

Thanks so much I will definately keep it up. I am working to find a photographer now to create my visual for the book. I will keep moving forward because I believe in the message I am bringing to the table and believe it could help many others.

I am interested in getting my poetry published as well so is it alright if I take a look at these sites too. Thank you mostlysunny for asking and for the members who gave such thoughtful replies. MyLot is a wonderful place.

Don't let anyone ever tell you that you aren't good enough or that your ideas aren't good enough!
I honestly have no idea where to even start in getting your work published. I would try researching it online or talking to someone who is a published writer.
Good luck!

I had my book Cat-House Sonnets, 100 poems celebrating cats, published by Jorlan Publishing. Check them out. They are wonderful to work with and very supportive. It is much easier to publish a book without illustrations as illustrations add a lot to the cost. It requires a certain kind of paper and other things. You can find a lot of sites to publish your poetry.
A new online magazine, Brandlady, is looking for contributors. I just got 3 of my non-cat sonnets published there. You can check them out as well.
Good luck to you.
