I haven't had much money to donate, but when I do, I have donated to Convoy of Hope. At this current time in my life, I like to donate to charities that are trying to help people with their basic needs. Convoy of Hope as a disaster fund that did a lot to help people hit by Hurricane Katrina. I like things like that.

I donate to Salvation Army, Food Pantries, Lupus Foundation, Heart Foundation and womens shelters. Donate your old cell phones to womens shelters. They use the phones so the women can call 911 in case their abuser finds them.

Yes, the cell phone issue. So many people just toss them, but they can be used still! People who don't have a lot of money and have no phone, battered and abused women...there are so many uses for other people when we are finished with them (I say we, but don't have a cell phone myself - : )).

I dont donate to large charities where you have no idea what the money is actually going for.
I choose local charities or shelters, there is a food pantry in my town that is always in need of money or food, especially with the holidays coming up. Amazing Grace.
The local newspaper collects money every year to take kids shopping for winter clothes, I donate to that also.
The schools here have drives to help kids who cant afford school supplies, I participate in that.
Over the summer I volunteered at a shelter for cats, that takes in stray cats and finds homes for them. If people on the street ask for money I will give it to them if I have it on me, I dont carry cash all that much.

We have been helped by the Mustard Seed Church so that is the charity we help. My wife also volunteers several days a week there. They have a food bank that feeds the hungry, clothes for the homeless and the less fortunate, daily free suppers for anyone and other services i'm not familiar with.
Take care Bgerig.

The Red Cross and Salvation Army have helped us a bit since the housefire so they are the ones I would donate to. Also our Human Society does pretty good and I would include them in any windfall I could ever receive. I like to see what ones are good with helping and then help then to keep doing it.

I donate to quite a few charities. My favourite one is the Save the Children. I have so often read about the abuse the children have endured and sometimes even the loss of life. This tears at my heart strings so I like to do all that I can to help stop this.

We donae to the local women's shelter and the Salvation Army because I see so many of the good things that they do, both locally and nationally. There is also a charity in Marion, Illinois, the Marion Medical Mission that takes stuff to Malawi to help people there with education and health. All of the items and moeny donated go directly to the people of Malawi...even the people who go to take the stuff there have to pay their own way, so I support them as well.

I do, to some specific charities like MSF and animal saver organization. I just feel that MSF serves a lot of countries in need and not certain country only.

I haven't donated anything to charities yet, I'm young and still unemployed.. But one of my dreams when I will earn much money is to build a building or create a foundation for the orphans on the streets that are just asking money for a living.. I really pity them when I see them like that, I just couldn't do anything to help them for now but I would really try to help them..

Most often, I contribute to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Growing up, I was befriended by a neighbor, an adult woman, and I got to spend a lot of time at her house. I had a "rough" childhood and did not always feel safe at home. This neighbor told me I could come to her house any time if i needed to get away for a little while.
In November of 88, she gave birth to twin boys. A little later on, they were diagnosed with Congenital MD. I frequently would spend time at her house, getting to know the family more, and helping her with her twins. When they were born, I was 8 years olds. By the time I was 11, I was over there almost daily. I would sit and play games with the boys and help them with homework as they got older and started school.
It motivated me further to pursue a career in the medical field and to always be on the lookout for a way to help someone in need. Ever since, I have religiously watched the MDA telethon every year, and contributed as generously as I am capable of at that time.
I moved away when I was 15, but never forgot about the friends I had made in that family. I watch every year hoping not to see their names on the list of fallen angels, and so far, so good. The boys are 18 now, the same age as my brother, and reportedly doing well.
I have also contributed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital through fundraisers when I was in school. Also, I used to work for Wal-Mart, and actively contributed to the Children's Miracle Network through payroll deduction while I was working there. To me, any cause that benefits children is a worthy one.

I like to have yard sales. I try to make a little money before I donate. After my yard sales I list everything that did not sell. I take it to several charities. I like to make care packs for the VFW so that they can send much needed supplies to our boys and girls over seas. I always have deoderants, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and other thing left over at the end of the yard sale season. I also donate books to the library.

Yes, I do. I give 12% of my income a month to my church, and whenever I get a call for Amvets or the Salvation Army I always have stuff to donate. Also, I'll give every once in a while to a charity that comes to my attention and is on my heart. In the past they have included the Red Cross, Voice of the Martyrs, Prison Fellowship, a wildlife haven, a no kill animal shelter, and charities like those. I can't afford to do that every month, but every so often I will because when it's on my heart, I know it's right to do.

i dont really donate much because i dont have much money and i dont have a job either. if i did, maybe i would donate a little to causes that i feel are important. but really, donations are not mandatory so i could keep my money and not feel guilty about it. if i dont donate to charities, i dont think that i am a bad person.
