Is death penalty a solution or a solution to curve crime agianst rape?

Death penalty in many ways either lethal injection, hanging on the plaza or electrict chair, etc. is still used by many countries especially in the Philippines who commit a crime of rape or statutory rape. I don't thinkthat this is the solution of the problem of too many maniacs hanging around the bench. I believe that their are still another form of punishment that will be more of a solution and can show an example to the public where maniacs will lose their appetite to commit such rapist attitude and where more women will be given respect even on the streets. What do you think folks and what are your suggestions of punispment against rapist?
