Try an be more explicit in your questions. If you mean what makes ebay (buyer or seller) I would say the buyers make it. I don't know what you mean though.

from what i read and was told ebay evolved from a very small thing into the big multi million business it is today. it was started by pez collectors as somewhere they could sell and buy pez's and then it just evolved into the ebay it is today.
