the need to define ourselves!!

why do we have this burning desire to define ourselves?we do this everyday even by the avatars we choose to represent ourselves at mylot.why do we have this desire to define ourselves??

The burning desire to define ourselves, I believe comes from the the desire for others to "see" us, in this world today things and money matter more than people and in our souls we know this to be wrong, we invite others to know us in the hope someone will seek out in us what we often ignore in ourselves.
Perhaps through inviting others to know us and what we are about we also learn more about ourselves. or something like that, LOL.
