Do you let your dog sleep with you? I know in past history dogs not only were a sense of comfort in an emotional sense, but they were literally a source of warmth in bed. They were also a source of warmth for such things as town meetings,.where the dog would lay across the persons feet.

I used to have a dog that I adopted from a homeless guy, he couldn't take care of her anymore so I offered to take her in. Anyway, she was so happy with us and we loved her dearly. At night as we were getting readyf for bed she would jump up in the bed and wait for us. The sleeping arrangement was my husband, then me, then the dog, Savannah. Eventually we had to start crating her at night because she would take up over half of the bed, sleeping with her head on the pillow next to us. My husband and I were pushed over to the far wall and Savannah would be sprawled out on the bed with her legs stretched as far as they would go.

My dog used to sleep with me all the time, but now she's getting older and she can't jump up there as easily! She sleeps on the couch now!

Yes, my little Jack Russell does sleep in the bed with me & hubby! He makes a great winter warmer! He's very good and doesn't wake up and bark or anything like that. He gets up when I get up and starts the day off by giving me a big kiss! lol

That's because in past history, people knew how to care for animals and treated them very well. The Romans and ancient Egyptians kept cats around since they protected them from bubonic plague and kept the rat population balanced
In witchcraft, there is a type of pet called a familiar, which is a kind of animal that is very close with the owner and has special powers imbued by Demons. They helped the mage to perform spells and the relationship was analogous to a parent and child.

I've got two dogs. The one is older, and has a rough time making it up onto a bed, so he sleeps on the floor next to my bed on his own 'bed' and my other dog usually starts out on my bed, wanders a bit during the night, and is across my feet when I wake up.

Yes, we let our dog sleep with us! She likes to sleep cuddled up right against one of us, either me or my husband. Sometimes she wants to sleep in between both of us, with her head on a pillow, too. She also likes sleeping on the couch as long as she has one of the couch pillows for her head. This past winter, when we had some really cold days, she enjoyed being covered up by a blanket too!
She likes pulling the trick on me of laying on my side of the bed before I can get into bed. My husband will go to bed and she'll curl up next to him. I'll walk into the room and she'll open an eye to see what I'm doing. Next thing I know, she's sprawled (and I do mean sprawled) all over my side of the bed, pretending to be asleep. I can whisper to her, nudge her, she won't open her eyes. I end up getting into bed along the edge and nudging & nudging until she scoots over. She almost always lets out a huge sigh, as if I'm inconveniencing her!
If I wake up during the night, she might be sleeping on our bed or she might be sleeping with one of our children on their beds. There have been times when my daughter has gotten up to use the bathroom and come back to her room only to find our dog sleeping in her spot!
Sometimes she sleeps on the floor next to the bed, on either side of the bed. Depends on her mood, I guess. I've noticed she prefers sleeping on the floor more often in warmer weather, it's cooler.
My husband & I had a long discussion about what behaviors we felt we could and couldn't allow when it came to a dog before adopting one. We both agreed we had no problem with a dog being on the couch or sleeping with us on our bed.
During a thunderstorm, you'll find me, my husband, our two kids and the dog all piled in our king size bed! Who wouldn't feel all snuggly and safe?
Our dog isn't "our dog", she's a family member. She's extremely intelligent and very loving. There's no way I would ever keep her off my bed!
