They say studying and listening to classical music helps you to retain what you're learning.....I don't see why other kinds of music wouldn't do the same thing if you like what you're listening to.

YA man listening to some soft music prevents u from getting bored while studying. At the same time it rfreshes ur mind and hence mental grasp increases. But at the same time if u listen to loud musik or one that's not of ur interest ur concentration may suffer. So i listen to only soft music with low volume!

I guess most of the ppl do prefer soft music..Loud music might feel as if something is being hammered into your head..however, for a metallica and linkin park fan like me..even tht might be great hehe

Hi! First of all, welcome to myLot! I do watch TV while studying or reading something. It's common knowledge that women/girls can multitask better than men/boys. I know some boys who get to study better while listening to music because it either calms them, inspires them, or get them moving (not make them sleepy). I don't listen to music when I'm studying but as I've said, I watch TV because it keeps me on my toes, doesn't make me feel bored of what I'm studying, and gives me the feeling that I'm resting when in fact I'm studying. Happy myLotting!

I cannot listen to music when I am studying, I need complete silience to concentrate, else I will be wasting my time. I tried many times to focus with the music on, but just could not concentrate on the study.

It works for me when i was still in college. But as i grow older i prefer a quiet room so that i can absorb the message of what i'm reading.

It's good that it works well with you. I know of people who do well also with music and tv in the background, I guess it helps to keep them awake. Me, I prefer to study in a more relaxed and quiet environment. I get easily distracted.

I always listened to music while studying when I was in school and college, and seemed that it's a must for me to make my brain relax. Until now, if I have something hard work to do, I usually listen to 'hard music' too to make me more cheerful to do my job :D

Perhaps not all the time.. but it might help when you are reading at night. Might help in keeping sleep away...
