I've read several of Grisham's books and enjoyed them. There are just so many books and so little time! I always have a pile of new books waiting for me to finish what I'm reading and start something new. I can't imagine what people who don't read do to occupy themselves.

JK Rowling is also one of my favorites. She has the best writing technique of anyone I've ever read. Her plot is so intricate that it takes 7 books to resolve it. I've also read VC Andrews and Judy Blume. They write some interesting things, too.

I'd have to say my favorite author at the moment is Patricia Cornwell. I've read all of her books and anxiously await the release of each new one. I love reading many others as well. I must check out Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child - I really enjoy thrillers as well but have never read any of their books. Are there any that you can recommend?

Obviously, Frank Herbert is my favourite. Followed by Philip D.I.C.K (they don't let me write the word normally, lol) and Isaac Asimov. I am a fan of science fiction:D
Then Stefano Benni, but probably you don't know him, he write italian books.

My latest favourite author is David Eddings, he writes fantasy books. I'm not normally a fantast fan, but his books are awesome! I think I've read nearly all of his book in the last few months!
Apart from him I love Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Matthew Reilly and Diana Gabaldon.
I'm a bit of a tomboy at heart, so don't really read many girly books lol

I totally agree with you on this one. I've read every Harry Potter book several times and eagerly await the release of #1. I wonder if JK Rowling intends to write any more books after she finishes with Harry. How could she ever come up with anything better than what she's already done?

Finally someone after my own heart. Do you read just Preston's solo books, or do you read the ones with Lincoln Child? I've read both, and I really prefer their collaborations, although the solos are interesting, too. I absolutely love Pendergast as a character. He is one of a kind.

Thank you for sharing. I don't know these authors, and I'm sure I couldn't read their books if I did, but your response got me to thinking about how many great authors we miss out on reading just because their material is published in another language. And because we've never heard of them.

I tried reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe series, but I got bogged down in book #3 and didn't go any further. Somehow they lost the fantasy appeal of the 1st book. And Shakespeare is so good for you, but hard going. I admire you for still tackling it. I haven't read him since high school.
