Can teens talk on the cell phone and drive at the same time? Horror stories?

A law was just passed here that banned teens from talking on the cell phone and driving at the same time. Is this fair? Should adults be banned from using cell phones while driving, too? What are the laws where you live?
What is your worst cell phone horror story? I once saw a woman texting on one phone while driving and another phone was on her shoulder by her ear! Come on!

Our state has banned cell phone use while driving. You can use the wireless head set things, but you can't actually hold the phone up to your ear.
In my opinion, teens have a hard enough time driving without cell phones. My friend's 18 year old just had her 4th (3rd serious) accident on Sunday night. None of them involved a cell phone.
I don't know if accidents have decreased, the law is pretty new - but I'll be looking into it when a study is done.
My only "issue" is - instead of banning cell phones only, why not any "distracting" behaviors such as reading, applying make up, making a sandwhich, putting a DVD or CD in, etc. Why pick on cell phones? There are plenty of other more distracting things people do while driving.

We can't talk while driving. But hands-free are allowed. It is very dangerous either way since it distracts you from the road. What if someone suddenly appears and dashes across the road? You might be laughing with your friend and killed someone with glee.

Actually, anything that's not hands free cannot be used in California. But, you still see people using their cell phones while driving, even police officers. You aren't actually going to get ticketed for it until June. Just about every time I see someone driving badly, they are talking on a cell phone.

I think it should be banned world wide, there are enough accidents on the road these days without them! It's also not fair always to be blaming teens on accidents, most of the time it's the lot in their late twenties who have caused the accident.... But in saying that if they think the teens are causing all the accidents why give them insurance and cars in the first place.

Here in england it is against the law for anyone to do that anyways. I do believe they just changed the law so that you can't even be holding one regardless of if your using it or not.
Lot of horrible accidents happen because of people driving while on the phone and you hear of terrible stories of people killing others while driving and on the phone but them themsleves not having a single mark and walking away.
I don't understand why people can't use handfree kits or even pull over. Is society that busy nowadays they can't answer a call striaght away or pull over for 2 minutes?
