Quaker Oats are not just for breakfast anymore!
They are a fast pain reliever.
Here is what you do.
Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water
in a bowl and warm them in a microwave for 1 minute. Cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain.

Wow, I never knew that oats warmed up and applied to aching bones could cure old arthritis...What is it in the oats that does that..could it simply be that it is warmed up or is it something in the oatmeal?:)+

I don't have any idea what the secret is. I just know that my grandmother swears by it.

I would bet this would make a great facial mask and would soothe sinus pain, too. I just may try it, as my sinuses have hurt all day. I use a paraffin bath for my hands a lot, but this would work well for those who do not have one or want to buy one. I think the same treatment that I put over the paraffin would be good--put loose fitting plastic bags over the goop and insulated mitts over that to prolong the warmth.

When I was a teenager, and would get a large blackhead on my nose, my grandmother would make a paste of dry oatmeal and cream, and put it on my nose. It would draw the dirt and oil out of my nose in less than a day. I'd forgotten about that until you mentioned the facial mask!

I have not heard of this though it does make sense since the heat would penetrate. Sleeping warm in a sleeping bag on the bed would also help with morning stiffness and pain. As would a morning hot bath. Thanks for sharing this and if need be I might give it a try.

I have arthritis in my back because of a previous back surgery. I am always looking for additional ways to prevent stiffness. Thanks for this tip about the sleeping bag.
