Some of you may have read my last discussion about my seven month old going on a nursing strike, well it's gotten to the point now, where he won't nurse but for about 3 minutes at each feeding and I can only get him to feed about 2 times a day, He won't take a bottle, the only way I can get any more bm or formula in him is through a cup (not even a sippy cup, he wants one like his big brothers, no lid, it's very messy) I called the doctor, and they told me to monitor him closely and try to get him to take some. I've tried different bottles, but they do not appeal to him. THe cup thing works, but after about an ounce or so in there, he's done with that too. The doc said he needs to be consuming at least 24 ounces a day, and having at least 3-4 wet diapers a day. Yesterday he had 2 wet diapers, and thy weren't the soaking wet kind either. I've tried not offering him solids, and he still wouldn't nurse/drink formula, and then he cried all day because he was hungry and tired because he wasn't sleeping well (because he was hungry). I've been pumping every 3 hours, but haven't produced much, I fear his little strike is affecting my supply. I've resorted to mixing milk/formula in with all of his solids, making them very soupy, and he'll take some that way, I just don't know if I'll be able to get him to get enough in. It is 12:30 right now, he's taken about 7 ounces of milk, and has 17 more to go! Anyone else have any ideas? I think it's just that he is so independent, just wants to do everything himself, and doesn't want to sit still long enough to nurse or eat.
