We were talking about that just a while ago and If you for some reason or another had to choose between immediately going blind or going deaf, which would you choose.
Being a relatively new grandmother I cannot imagine not being able to see my grandson or the blue sky or the clouds, watch TV, the beautiful colors of fall, the flowers in the spiring, but on the other hand I cannot imagine not being able to hear his beautiful little voice, or hearing if he cries.
I think I would have to choose deaf, because I could always learn to sign and there are other things available, but being unable to see would be the worst.
What do you think???

If I had to choose immediatley blind or deaf, I don't know what I would choose. I am a new mom who is also pregnant with number 2, and just thinking about the new baby, being able to eigther see my new baby or hearing its first cry, I think I would want to be able to see it because at least I could put my hand on its chest and feel the vibration of its cry. And if I think about just my first son, I would not be able to choose at all. I love hearing him call me mom, but I also love seeing him play and put his arms out for me. So I would not be able to choose.

It is really difficult questions.. I can't tell , because If I loose my hearing I won't be able to say a word , and in blindness I can't see , walk and I'll loose a lot of my activites. I hope not to be in this situation and had to choose. God bless ourself.

Your discussion topic is very nice and interesting. But,it is very difficult to answer it.Still i, would choose deafness. If we are blind we cannot enjoy this beautiful world.God has created this world, with lot of natural beauty to enjoy. Our beautiful eyes are to enjoy the natural beauty.Hearing is also imoportant to us.With out it you cannot enjoy the music and the sound of the nature.

i think i would choose going blind..i could always remember what things looked like but i want to hear what my family says..i'm sure i'll know when my 9yr old rolls her eyes at me i'll hear it in her tone...either one would be a hard adjustment i think...

You are so right! You can almost hear their tone when they roll their eyes!
Yes you could remember what things looked like, but what about seeing them grow up, seeing them graduate, seeing them get married or seeing your first grandchild, I just really do think I would miss sight more.
Thank you for your respone!!!

i choose deafness .. i think its harder to be blind than deaf .We have a beautiful world. i feel being deaf is more better because you dont hear the noise around you , you dont hear people shouting , arguing or fighting. you get your quiet place everywhere you go.
