Oh my gosh, why would you even start a discussion like this....lol. No one is going to say they agree with it. Of course it is wrong to beat your children. I find the best way to handle them is just to outsmart them.

I am a bit taken back by the question. I never think it is correct to "beat" your child. How would someone feel if they were beat especially by someone bigger & stronger than they are.

No one should beat their children and if they feel that they have to then its their fault for not bringing their children up right and if you do beat them their most likely to have complexes and grow up to be in abusive realationships, or become the baby raping cearal killers, and phsycos we have in society today.

Having the word 'often' in the question gives me chills. Beating a child is a terrible thing to do and doing it often is unforgivable.
Even spanking a child as a form of discipline is not good. Maybe once in awhile but not often. I think studying your kids behavior would help to know what kind of techniques can be used if they are not behaving properly.
For my case, I used to spank my son because he really does not stop shouting or wailing but I realized it was his way of getting to me. He knows that it would grab my attention so what I did is not to mind him and somehow gradually, he stopped doing this or shall I say he's still doing but he stops on his own when he notices that he gets no reaction from me.

Yes, children should be beaten once a week whether they need it or not...NOT
I don't agree with beating children, it is W R O N G and parents who do it are either a victim of their own cultural conditioning or cruel and heartless. I was hit as a child and I still have not forgiven my parents for it.

no wayyy!!!!!! beating children is definitly not correct!! as gandhiji once said.. "corporal punishment shows a desire to punish and hurt someone..." and that is definitly not right... it would just make them more rebellious...

I personally feel beating can not solve the problem. I actually loose our patience and beat them which is not right. Kids don't understand when you beat them. They know they have done something wrong and its good to talk to them regarding that in your way. Moreover, its a crime to beat kids.

I have no idea where you live, but here beating your children is against the law. Besides being abusive and dehumanizing to your children, you can cause permanent injury. Some parents have their children taken away from then if they are caught doing this and rightfully so. Unfortunately, not enough parents get caught and, as a result, many children die needlessly.

Hell no! I feel bad when I give her a little spank on the hand! I don't think it solves anything, it only teaches the child that violence is ok.
