It didn't them long, did it? Sounds like they made a fairly decent choice. Todd Lickliter has been with Butler College for a while, and has lead that team into the sweet 16 twice! U of I will be making the official statement this afternoon (April 3) at 4:45 central time. I found this at www.hawkeyesports.com where you can see it live.
jump in if you think this is a good choice for Iowa. :)

What little I've seen of Todd Lickliter, he exhibits more human emotions and is an exciting person next to Steve Alford. Besides being good-looking, Steve Alford always struck me as the most boring coach in basketball. I haven't been over-enthusiastic about his recruiting, either. The Iowa team used to have much more personality than it does now. The year's team was either Adam Haluska or not. I really never got very caught up in any of the other players. I'd rather watch Florida with Joakim Noah or Ohio State with Greg Oden.
Hopefully Lickliter will take over and get Iowa back to being a viable team instead of the also-ran it has become in recent years. My dad was a lifelong Hawkeye even though they seldom won, and I'll continue to be one, too, no matter what. But, we can always hope, can't we!

I totally agree. I hope that Iowa can come back to the glory years like they had years ago.
My dad is a die hard Iowa fan, too. Even though I went to UNI for college, I'll still cheer for the black and gold!! :)

I think it was the best choice we had left. With coaches like Smith, Altman and others off the table we took the logical, somewhat safe, choice. I am not overly thrilled with another coach from a midmajor conference, but right now anything is better than Alford.

I will agree with you there. I'm looking forward to the press conference. Looks like it will start in just a few minutes. :)
