". . and there's nothing I can do now" - electric light orchestra
Have you ever felt this way? About anything - a person, place, thing? Food? Drink? Relationships?
I always get this feeling over music. I used to (still do sometimes) listen to the radio. A lot. I breathe, sleep, dream, eat, study, relax with it. A delightful obsession really. There's just something, or someone for that matter, about the radio that just draws me. My own love for music, for one. Those soulful voices that dedicate a song especially for you (sigh) is another. I always thought the song "Pilot of the Airwaves" seemed to have been written with someone like me in mind (giggles). I was really crazy over radio and the pilots of the airwaves too. I won't stop pestering them until they look, find and play my song. I shower them with dozens of request letters in all forms, color, shapes and sizes just to get their attention. I gave "persistence" a whole new meaning. I just bet they were so relieved to see the last of me.
I remember those days. Wonderful crazy days. I love music to distraction. I don't think I'll ever get over it nor do I want to.
What are you crazy for and won't stop at anything until you get it? I would really love to hear from you. Do share. Have a great time posting. Keep smiling.

I always have music playing, no matter what I am doing. If I don't have something playing in the background, I go nuts!! I need to have something on. Usually it's music from around the world, just something interesting to work by. Tonight I'm listening to Russian music.

Hi! When you say "from around the world" I take it you're listening to an international radio? I like that. I haven't ever heard Russian music. Mind giving me a sample?
Thanks for your response. Have a great day. Happy posting.

I am usually quite a restrained person. Very seldom do I get carried away. I would love that kind of feeling though.. but I can never completely let go.

I do get carried away when I start playing with flowery language but this is a far cry from what I think "total release" is like.
Can't refuse a request from friends. :P

Hi lordwarwizard. Hmmm...I totally disagree. I always get carried away when I read your posts. I do hope you also get carried away when you are writing them. They are, quite truthfully, amazing. It's a good feeling to let go completely and feel the onslaught of emotions something brings to me. It's more than words can ever say. I wish and believe that feeling will soon come your way when you least expect it and letting go will come naturally. A pleasure to see you drop in. Have a great day.

I'm a pretty big music fan too, but it wasn't the first thing that popped into my head when I read this, so it must not be the right answer for me. =p
The right answer is books. Reading is one of my favorite things in the whole world to do. I read books about just about everything, and I'll read an entire book before really forming an opinion on it even if I don't find it entertaining at first.
If I go on a trip or something and forget to bring a book, no matter how many other sources of entertainment I have available, I get kind of twitchy. I just love to get lost in ideas, characters, scenarios, settings, symbolism... there's nothing quite like it. Even reading books on the computer isn't anywhere near as satisfying for me as holding a good old-fashioned paper book in my hands. There's just nothing like it.

Ooo nine books! That's a spree! =p
I usually only buy that many books if I'm buying them secondhand or at major clearance prices. Fun!
I can't wait until I get my tax refund, because my half of the part not set aside for bills, savings, etc. is going to buying some new books. Some of them are Japanese manga, but I think I'm also going to go through the aisles picking up things my friends have mentioned liking too. =)

Ok ok. You two think, you're the only ones? (grins). Me too!
Guilty Your Honors. One of my many weaknesses but not as much as music. I have to admit Lecanis, I totally agree on all points. Amen. If left to my own devices, I'd be lost in books all day everyday. But then myLot came along. So, I'll have to divide my time now getting lost in books and myLot. I have long been lost in music.
Thank you for your response. You have a great day posting and don't get too lost ok? I would love to hear more from you. Keep smiling.

I was reading this discussion and then I remembered, I have to practice my singing for today. I do not get distracted unless I hear someone singing an opera on TCM or I hear Bach and then I have to stop what I am doing, even writing on myLot and immediately gravitate towards it. It is a good thing my husband likes audio books or I would never get anything done. My love of getting more opera and classical Cds is only surpassed by my love not to be poor in my old age. It is a constant battle.

Hi! Well I am not classically oriented but I do respect your love for them. I never quite got a taste for opera. Are you an opera singer? No offense meant. As I get older I do have those battles among things I love. Life sure is full of battles. Thank you and have a lovely day singing.

Well, i'm a level-headed person and I don't get too obssessed about anything. What happens if you can't get it? Then you get distracted and things that need your attention gets affected. It sounds to me like you have obssessive-compulsive behavior over fm radio programs. Like you can't function without a radio playing music in the backround. I just hope it's affecting you in a good way (like it's not affecting your job or the ability to perform it w/o a radio in sight).

HI 7mfmns. Well you know, I always get what I want - when it comes to music. It doesn't distract me, it heightens my awareness. Yes, maybe you are right but I don't want to be cured if that is the case. Hahaha believe it or not it gives me such a rush of adrenalin, I could do the work of 5 people, well make it 3. I like your point of view. See you around.
