I have several hobbies. I crochet which relaxes and centers me. I make baskets which challenge me because I am still learning how to make them. I paint ceramics some and I can absolutely lose myself while painting them. I also feel like my creative itch gets scratched. My hobbies have also been therapy for me when I was laid up. That is what my hobbies do for me. What do your hobbies do for you?

My main hobby is collecting Legos. I like to create new buildings out of the blocks. My favorite theme is Castle. I have built many original displays at my school. I write a story and post a different chapter every 2 or 3 days and move the Lego people around to correspond with the story. I teach high school students and they love to see the Lego display and read the story. To see some of my displays just go to: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?m=gberlin
I hope you enjoy the pictures!

being on the computer is both my hobby and my work, I write for a living and I play on the internet and I have made friends through it as well, so that is my main hobby.
Also on the internet I play scrabble and I just love it.

I love scrabble too. In fact I will probably join that site you told me about next week. Maybe we can play some. I also play games on the internet on top of the other hobbies I listed. Thank you for your response.

My hobbies include reading, playing chess, hanging out with friends, watching movies, travelling, knowing new cultures and participating in debates.Chess and debates helps me stay focused and sharpens my mental acumen.Reading helps me know my inner self better and tickles my imagination.Being with friends and watching movies is just fun and recreational hobbies that revitalize me.I like to meet new people and learn new things where travelling comes in.I find the world of ceramics fascinating and I can understand how one can completely lose track of time and surroundings while painting them.

It sounds like your hobbies do as much for you as mine do for me.

They are therapy for me too. I started working with polymer clay when I was a mental health counselor and badly in need of something to take my mind off my clients! I have used painting and sculpting, writing, myLot and crossword puzzles to get me through the down times when my husbands illness has been really bad.
In addition ot therapy, however, I have earned a little bit of money with my hobbies, selling a few items at local arts and crafts stores and a few articles on the internet. The money is gravy...I use it for things I wouldn't otherwise buy for myself or the house.
Finally, my hobbies give me a sense of self. I can put my feelings into my work and I can feel good about myself while I am creating.
I'm glad I have a variety of hobbies, so that whatever my mood, I can turn to them.

I have a few hobbies but raising and breeding tropical fishes and putting together native American crafts are my two favorite ones. ON the tropical fsihes I can get emersed in watching them for hours on end and when I am doing my crafts I can see things comming together that make the whole better than the individuaal pieces. It does not hurt that I get some money from each of these hobbies to help defrey the cost of more materials for the hobbies.

I used to have a fish tank and loved watching the fish. It is so relaxing. Thank you for your response.
