My father has a highblood and I am finding it hard to prepare his meals because I don't know what foods I should give him. Please let me know.

more on fish and much less red/white meat and pork. if you can grill or broil or steam the fish, the better, because frying is not really healthy because of the oil. oil is a source of cholesterol and triglycerides that cause high blood pressure. so try to stay away from fried fish, or perhaps limit it. stay away from salty foods, too. also, limit his intake of shellfishes like crabs and shrimps. their eggs can cause high bp. limit also his intake of coffee or tea because too much of it can cause heartburn. it is an anti-oxidant but, too much is not good, so limit his intake. perhaps 1 cup of coffee in the morning and 1 cup of tea in the afternoon will be fine. give him more green and leafy vegetables (steamed or boiled). if you need to use salt or fish sauce to taste, minimize it to the lowest level so it won't harm your dad. and, of course, have a regular check up with a cardiologist and let him take his medications properly and regularly. always monitor your dad's bp especially upon waking up in the morning. because the presssure is at the highest at 4am till 6am. for years, i've been monitoring my mom's blood pressure. so far, it's manageable. also, observe his feet and face if he's having edema. tell his cardiologist if you observe your dad has it.

I'm assuming you mean high blood pressure. If you do, then I would suggest foods high in potassium and low in sodium. Foods like potatoes with no salt, low sodium salad dressing, bananas, prunes, broccoli, spinach, low-fat dairy products. Stay away from cheese, salt, soups, and salted butter. That's what I suggest. He might want to talk to a nutritionist, too.
