Well I've heard an awful lot of people telling people to "follow their heart" when they're making choices. But what does it really mean anyway? I don't tend to make choices with my heart; I leave it to my brain. I don't exactly understand the phrase... Does it mean you should just guess? You know - eeny, meeny miney moe? Choose the easiest option? What do you think?

this is when you are thinking, you have to have a decision and when your heart and brains is having a discussion of their own, brains will tell, career, family, successful life, money , safety ...while the other one will say happiness, togetherness, soulmate, kiss , affection and forever. when you hear that, and you think that you are like to choose hapiness affection that hearts will say and you are pretty sure, follow it. follow what makes you happy. follow what brings out the best in you, much more when you wake up in the morning and all you can see and think is that special person, you must follow your heart.

I am a soldier by profession and I am of the opinion that brain helps a soldier most. A soldier must have brain and be able to use it. There will be hundreds of occasions for him when he will have to use his own initiative. Many opportunities will come forth when he shall have to do as the occasion demands. The use of modern weapons requires a lot of intelligence and quickness in thinking. A soldier has to read maps, read books on the art of warfare and fighting. He shall have to go through literature, the study of which will help him in the performance of his routine duties. He must be able to read books on the art of warfare as well as of, general knowledge and general science. He shall have to receive and issue instructions. For all this brain is required. In old days, fighting or warfare was not so complicated a matter. It was mostly an affair of physical strength. If one was physically superior to the enemy, he could easily obtain victory over him. But now more of brain than brawn is required because a lot of scientific know ledge is needed in modern warfare. A soldier has to handle very complicated apparatus, the wireless set and different kinds of engines. There is the mechanism of vehicles, signals, symbols and signs of communications. Every soldier has to get education up to a certain standard. He has to study such difficult subjects as Physics, Hydrostatics, Statics, Dynamics etc. No soldier can afford to remain illiterate and ignorant. The art of warfare calls for a lot of tact, cleverness, original thinking and above all keen and fine power of observation. Mental alertness is of paramount importance for every soldier. In these days of science, the strength of an army lies in the mental acuteness and acumen or soldiers. Howsoever fit an army may be it cannot hope to win, if the soldiers are not well up in all the modern ways of fighting. Mental alertness of a special nature is required in the guerilla type of fighting. For all this, a. mature intelligence is the first requisite. Resourcefulness is the greatest qualification of a soldier. A dull-headed soldier or army officer will ever get involved into difficulties for lack of resourcefulness. A man with a stagnant brain can never make a good soldier. That is why now, while recruiting soldiers into the army i we not only look to their physical fitness but to their mental development also. Thus in case crisis I would rather follow my mind than my heart.

The expression to follow your heart means to do what you feel is right no matter what someone else may have told you . It is going on your own instincts and following through on them . It doesn't necessarily mean to follow the easiest decision as sometimes what your heart tells you to do is not the easiest thing as others will be upset with you for doing what you feel is best .

It simply means forget the logical choices, do what you really want to do regardless of how illogical it seems. Often that is the correct choice for you any way, since it will make you the happiest.

It's not actually guessing. It's more of what you feel inside of you when you are brought to a decision that you need to decide. Like when choosing your partner...let's say you love two persons, and you don't know which person to choose however when you look into your heart you feel that the other person weighs more than the other one. That's actually making a decision using your heart. It's not easy coz it can be quite contradicting but it's where you feel at ease in the decision making. I hope I have somehow cleared something. ^_^
