Poem for inside Wedding invitations

Rather than gifts we would like to ask our guests if they would donate cash instead. As we have lived together for a number of years now and have plenty of utensils, but could do with doing up the house.

You could put a "money tree" on the gift table or there is a tradition of passing the bride's shoe around and people put money in it. I think if you aren't registered anywere most people will give you money. You could also register at a place or a couple places that have the decorating things you would like to purchase and people could buy you those.

One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes people will get uncomfortable if they are just asked to give cash. What you may want to consider as an alternative is let everyone know what you are wanting to do, and then perhaps suggest a gift card for store X, that you know you can get what you need for doing the work you want to do to the house.
