My smaller one is 4 yrs old and now sometimes I tell him to brush with his own hands. But he is still not able to brush in every angle properly. But I think that if he is not left to do by himself how will he learn to do it? What is the correct age to allow the children to brush by themselves?

Its too late for a child to do brush on his own. You make him habit very late. You must have started when he has completed 2 years. But its never too late make him to do on his own. Don't stand in front of him and then you will see he is doing on his own.

Thanks for your response. But I think 2 yrs is very early for a child to brush, though he will try he will not be able to do it properly.

I sometimes let my 5 year old brush unassisted but with my watching and his dentist said that was a big no no. That I could let him brush 1 time a day in the morning alone, but every evening before bed I had to do his teeth. He also said the same for my older son who is 7. He didn't mention when they can start doing the evening brushing alone.

Thanks for your response and suggestion. I would take care from now onwards,to assist him in brushing atleast once.
