Vegetables are very important in our diet. If you look at the modern food chart, you can readily see that this item is at the bottom of the triangle. This means that you can eat all the vegetables you desire without jeopardizing your health.
A vegetarian friend told me that vegetables are good for our body and soul. It is good for the animals as well, obviously, as we spare them from being slaughtered for food. My friend began to adopt a plant-based diet 2 years ago after she discovered that her family line have a history of cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
I admit that I'm very selective with the vegetables I'm eating. I grew up mostly eating meat. I also prefer the well cooked vegetables as I can't stomach eating the raw one. I tried many times to go on a strict vegetarian diet but ended up gulping on my favorite steak.
I have a brother who is a meat lover and detested eating vegetables. No matter how I
forced him, he adamantly refused to eat his vegetables. Are you also like my brother who is a certified true carnivorous eater? Do you prefer to eat vegetables rather than meat? Or are you both meat and veggie eater? Do share your thoughts.

Olah charms88!(",) How's your day?(".)
Yup, I'm a vegetable eater. I think I eat everything as long as its edible. When we were a kid our parents really trained us to eat veggies. It's always part our daily diet. My favorite veggies are potato, squash, beans, carrots and lettuce and alot more. I love vegetables!(",)
Vegetables are very important in our diet because it gives minerals and vitamins which gives nourishment in our body. I encourage everyone to also eat vegetables because its good for our own health. We should always be conscious in what we eat.
Happy veggy eating everyone!(",)

A day without broccoli for me is like a day without sunshine. Sometimes my husband will jokingly warn me that I'm about to sprout florets.
I don't each much starch, mostly meat and veggies. Of course, I'd gladly give up the meat if I could, in lieu of garden fresh veggies every day. Mmmmm, there's nothing like picking it straight off the vine, and muching on fresh peas, snap beans, yellow peppers or swiss chard.
Hey, wait a second ... I'm not the bunny. Oh Charms ... have you been eating my fresh greens again?

I'm a vegetarian for almost a year now and to tell you this I'm loving the vegies! You eat without the worries of how good the food you are eating and how bloody this one before it came to my plate. I cannot even see myself eating again meat. It makes me think of how horrible this animals came through just to be in your plate and be eaten. I love this being a vegetrarian but still I don't forced others to believe in what I believe in cause I know choosing this kind of commintment is a big decision and you gotta have the heart of dedication.

I think vegetables can be very pretty and nice to touch. However, I don't take vegetables because they don't taste good. I might eat some lettuces if they come with burgers but that's that. I will always remove those yucky tomatoes though.
I don't really like meat either. Or fish, etc unless they are fried real nice and spiced up.
There isn't really anything nice to eat.

I was a strict vegetarian for a very long time and so was my entire family. Our caste doesn't permit us to eat meat so we never did. My grandpa, aunt, my brother and I began to eat chicken a few years ago. Now only we four are the ones who are not completely vegetarian. We eat only chicken outside and its not cooked at home. My hubby too eats only chicken and its been that way. I can go without chicken so it is easy for me to be a strict vegetarian. I love veggies in any form (salads as well as cooked) so its never a problem to gobble up veggies..hehe ;o)

I love meat but I am very selective about the vegetables which I eat. When I was growing up, my mum used to try to make me eat all types of vegetables but I just couldn't stomach them. Now I manage to eat a small anount of cabbage, turnips and peas and that's my lot.

I am also little picky when it comes to vegetable. We (me and my hubby) always prefer to take meat or fish more than vegetarian food. We both are big fan of nonvegetarian food. But my hubby like salad a lot. So, I make sure to add salad in our meal to keep the balance. When we eat veggie also my list is limited to some options. I know it is not taht a good habit, but I can't help it.

I love almost all veggies.... but I eat both. I believe the best diet is a "balanced" diet. I don't think too much of anything is really good for you. Veggies are healthy, but then you have to be concerned with taking extra supplements as well as you may be lacking in vital protein given from meat products. It all depends on how you cook things and what they are. We always have a variety on our plates at home.. veggies included. With my kids, they MUST try everything we eat. If they don't like it, fine. But they have to try it every time I cook it, as our tastes sometimes change.

Depends on the vegetable I guess. I do eat my fair share, especially with my dinner. My kids eat their veggies as well but my husband is still adamant about refusing his; corn and potatoes is about all he will tolerate. I can eat some things raw, like carrots as a snack with my cucumber and tomato, most of the other stuff has to be cooked though. One of my favorites is steamed broccoli, yum!

bitter gourds are believed to be the best remedy for stomach ailments. and believe me just give a try by boiling them a little in salt water and draining the water before actually spicing them up. you will love them. hmm may be bunny will forget the taste of carrots too.lol

I like to eat vegetables.I never liked non-veg food till I came to the residential school. After coming there I started eating non-veg.But still now I like veg foods much more than non-veg foods because of personal likings and health issues...But there are many vegetables I dont like to eat like amorphophallus(biological name...sorry.I dont know the common name). It just itches your throat sometimes very badly..I like almost all leafy vegetables and they are my favourite...It contains almost all vitamins=needed for the human body...

Charms I am an Eggitarian (veg-egg diet) but nomeat for me. It is my choice for the past several years! I was a meat eater till a few years ago but now I am vegetarian to the core. But even when I was meat eater I always had my veggies. I have never shirked from eating vegetables. Infact we used get these large carrots sometimes (one carrot) they weigh more than a pound they are red and much sweeter than the salad carrots (the orange ones) and I used to often munch it for breakfast and follow that up with milk. But I also have always felt eating meat never caused anything bad either, none of the health problems are because of eating meat or not. All of the problems are more so because how we cook it and how much we eat more importantly what kind of meat you eat. Meat if trimmed of fat and cooked in a light sauce with not much of oil is just as healthy as eating vegetarian food, but if meat is cooked/fried in fat or charred in a grill makes it unhealthy. We must also be consious in the choice of meat we eat, eat more of white meat than red meat. And more importantly cook it well it is the single most important thing to do is to cook your meat well. But more often people who eat meat also have the habit of not eating vegetables, this is also bad. There are also many vegetarians who have the same diseases as the people who are non-vegitarians and this is primarily because vegetarians tend to not eat all the vegetables, they love a few things and stick to just those few dishes, vegetables like potato have no value besides the starch in it! I Would eat whole wheat flour tortillas to get my carbs and avoid potatoes. I think it is all in the healthy choices we make. I avoid potatoes all the time infact I myself cook potatoes only once in 2-3 weeks. I have a lot of cravings for carrots, cukes and cherry tomatoes which I would just snack on all the time. I get my proteins from pulses (lentils, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, lima beans) and eggs.I also do not avoid vegetables of any sort infact anything vegetarian goes well for me, it does not matter if it is brinjals, zucchini, beans, carrots, okra, bitter melons, cabbages, broccoli, ash gourd, squash, peas, lima beans, tomatoes, cukes, rutabega, turmip, raddishes, beets, cauliflower, mushrooms, spinach, fenugreek leaves, kale, potato or colocasia I can have a hearty meal of anything that is available. So to say I am a good vegetarian (not pure I do eat eggs) and all my family members are true meat eaters (they do eat their vegetable). :)

Wowww, deaxyza, I might begin to take the first step to eat more veggies. For the meat, its either chicken or beef but never pork meat. I'm guilty of not eating healthy though. I'm getting lazy trying to cook up something delicious and healthy as well. You seems to have an affinity for carrots...gee, I better hide my carrots, LOL!!!

yeah I do I don't know why... but carrots really attract me with their inherent honeyed sweetness that no fruit can imitate, they are sweet but not too much and crunchy too! keeps my mouth really busy, yeah that rabbit on your Avatar is looking at the carrots pretty hungry and I think I might just feed it! LOL thanks for the discussion I love what I eat and it just happened to be healthy, so that is just pure luck I guess! :)
