My daughter's 1st birthday is coming up on the 1st and we decided to go home so the grandparents could be there for her party. I was wondering if there is anything I should or shouldn't do for this party. I mean like buying decorations, a cake, that sort of stuff. I figure the decorations won't really matter to her at this age and there won't really be any other kids there. I don't know if I should get a big cake for the family and just give her a piece or get her a small cake just for her.
I was just wondering how some of you celebrated your baby's big day. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I am wondering this as well, my daughters first birthday is not until October but I still would like to know what other people did for their kids. I am thinking nothing too big, her birthday is the day before Halloween, so we will get dressed up and go out for that. We don't know many young kids, I have one friend with a two year old but thats about it. I imagine we'll just have the family and some cake as a photo oppotunity. I cannot help but buy her presents though for every holiday, so I probably will get some cute outfits and a toy, if our house isn't full by then.
Good luck hun and happy birthday early to your little one!

Happy VERY early birthday to your daughter too!
We bought our daughter presents at Christmas time like we were shopping for an older kid! We just had to have her something under the tree to open with everyone else even though she was only 7 months old. I'm kinda scared how much crap we might buy her now!

For my son, we did all the decorations (like you say more for us), than for him, and he just had apiece of the large cake. We didn't really plan anyting as far as activities since it was mostly adults. In fact, there was a playoff football game on, which we watched and everyone had a great time!
