Is it just me or are Cadbury's chocolate bars getting smaller?

Cadburys chocolate bars. - various Cadbury's bars.

I've noticed in the past couple of years you tend to get less chocolate for your money in smaller bars of Cadbury's chocolate in the British bars (I don't know about elsewhere in the world) despite the bars going up in price and having less packaging that appears cheaper to make.

It's not just you, I'm noticing this too. They're also going up in price. It seems people want to rip off the public. It's not just chocolate, it's everything! Products get smaller, prices get higher, and we are getting screwed!!!

It is annoying that it's so obvious yet we all still pay without questioning people need to speak out more about these things.

Cost-cutting I guess? I'm thinking the cost of production increased because of rising oil prices, and they made the bars smaller instead of having to add to the cost of the bar. Or maybe it's a health thing -- that smaller servings are better for the daily calorie consumption charts.

Logically they must be making more money out of us since the bars are getting smaller and they are charging us more, it just doesn't seem fair.

But then isn't everything getting a little more expensive these days? Hahaha, don't mind me. I'm just being bitter.

I think cream eggs have got smaller - the cocolate is thinner and the fondant is far sweeter, even that a few years ago, but I've been told I've grown and my taste has matured, lol. What do you think?

I think all chocolate bars are becoming smaller. Cadbury's, however, are my favourite and I resent them being smaller. lol. The packaging has changed, probably due to EEC requirements and seem to be vacuum packed now. I much preferred the old packaging of gold of silver paper with a sleeve cover. They were much easier to open, much less likely to melt in your hand and much less likely to shoot out of the wrapper as you tore them open! ha ha ha. Yes, I've done that!!! :-) Brightest Blessings, my friend.

I do miss the old packaging with the foil though you can get other bars of chocolate that have foil they are just more expensive now.

As you sure the candy bar got smaller or you are getting bigger? Just kidding... Anyway, I have not noticed the changes in size here in my country but one thing for sure the price is more expensive now for the same size of Cadburys candy bar.

It's nearly 50p for a small bar of chocolate when you can get one more than twice the size for about one pound twenty.

Everything is getting smaller. I bought Girl Scout cookies for the first time in a few years and those things were a joke.

We don't get them in England so I wouldn't be able to comment, but biscuits seem to have less in the packet over here these days too.

No it's not just you! I'm pretty sure they are! I think it's because everything in the UK has been resized to fit into metric measurements over the past few years, so that everything is in kgs now, not lbs, and, of course, they always alter things to make them slightly smaller, not slightly bigger!!

They could at least do us a favour in the chocolate department we put up with enough else in the UK!

Chocolate - MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm chocolate
I'm not sure that they chocolate bars ae getting smaller, I think it might be more to do with the price rises. I love very close to Cadburys World and often go to the factory shop there, and the prices have definitely gone up lately.

This has been happening for years, with most brands of chocolate bars. My dad used to lament how he once paid ten cents for a chocolate bar the size of his head. He was probably exaggerating, but I do know that candy in general was bigger when I was a kid!

They have been the same size out here I believe! I live in New Jersey. They seem the same, although maybe I am just not that observant ( I am sure that is what they are hoping for if they indeed cut down on the size!!!!) However I do think the price has gone up slightly from what I remember. But still, I love cadbury, yum!!

I've heard you get a lot more for your money in America everywhere so I'm sure chocolate is no different or people would complain.
