If I like the person that proposes in a romantic way and am available I may accept the proposal and have a longer engagement in order to know him better...

I have had that happened. It was unexpected because the person was just a good friend. I smiled, told them as much as I loved them as a friend I didnt love them in that way that would constitute a marriage. We are still good friends to this date and often laugh about it. But the person still does say they would marry me in a heartbeat because I have the values they want in a wife.

no real words to describe that experience. You were in the position were you cant say yes or no. But it still nice to hear that you continued your friendship.

I will take up that relation to next level (friendship). I want to talk with her for some time and try to understand her. If I feel comfortable then I will propose.

Agree on a long engagement, and be prepared to return that ring if neccessary. Otherwise, accept the fact that you are hot sh*** and people want to own ya immediately!!!!
