The first novel I read was probably one of the Hardy Boys' mysteries, but I don't remember which one or how old I was. The first "meat and potatoes" novel was "A Tale of Two Cities." I was probably a little young for it. It was a struggle.

Probably my first novel was Little Women. I must have been around 7 or 8. I remember I didn't want to read it for the longest time, but now it's one of my favorite books.

I can't really remember which one but i think i've read most of the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew's sleuthing adventures when i was 13.

My first novel (or chapter book as I called it) was Elizabeth Gail and the Mystery at the Johnson Farm. I was around 7 or 8 and it seemed to take a long time to read.

I can't recall for sure whether this particular book was the first novel I ever read, but it's the first one that made a sizeable impression on me. The novel is none other than Charlotte's Web. I adored that book when I was young!

The first novel I read was Dickens "A Tale Of Two Cities" and I was about seven years old. I lived with my grandparents and they thought I was just playing around on the stairs but they had a great big bookcase halfway up the stairs so that's what I was doing. It wasn't an easy read - it took me about a month or so I think and I can't honestly say I understood most of it but I got to the end eventually. I've since read it as an adult and still don't find it an easy read!

The first novel I read was "The Hobbit". My brother read it to me when I was around 5 and then I read it for myself when I was eight. It was great and one I really loved. The next was "The Miracle Worker" about Helen Keller.

It was some Babysitters Club book. I used to love those books. Had almost 100 of them at one point in my my life. I can't remember the exact title of the first one I read, but it had a mint green cover, and I think it was about Claudia and Janine.

I too read my share of Nancy Drew and the Babysitter club books.
But my first "grown-up" Novel that I read was in my early 20's and was by Wally Lamb. It was called "I know this much is true". It is such a great book.
I had a hardback copy of it. But I loaned it to someone. And she never returned. Said she lost it, Hmmm!
